Re: Tips and tricks for buying a discontinued rere

If you are after an XLS you are kind of stuck searching hobby shops that might still have new old stock. If you are USA based, Amain is where most of the Schumachers come from, and they are a distributor to smaller shops that cant afford the buy in for Horizon and HRP. That means you can often find ...

Re: Tips and tricks for buying a discontinued rere

If it's discontinued you have to treat looking for it like an original, with potentially more of them around. If you must have it now and have deep pockets there's plenty of options for big money from people who are looking to flip nib kits. Otherwise it's sitting and waiting for one to pop up at a ...

Re: Can a single tamiya spray paint cover the whole body?

Buggies shouldn't be a problem, but you will likely need a backing color.

All of the blue on this truck was a single Tamiya can, but it was backed in another color.

Re: Can a single tamiya spray paint cover the whole body?

Hi all Where I live its hard to get a hold of the tamiya spray paint cans (or any lexan sprays). I managed to get a hold of 2 cans... (white and blue) I need to be very careful with the amount I use as these 2 cans need to be enough for 2 cars (1/10 avg body size) Would you guys say that a single s...

Re: Can a single tamiya spray paint cover the whole body?

Per Tamiya, the 100ml can is sized specifically to coat one complete model. I tend to use more when doing pan car bodies, but less when doing buggies.

Re: XLS rere prices

gkatz wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 4:31 am what was the price when it launched (the rere)?
Price of the CAT XLS was $309. Just did a quick search and hot damn folks have them for sale at ridiculous prices. I picked one up at the local HobbyTown when they were still available for $309.

Re: Tips and tricks for buying a discontinued rere

Quick and simple version fit the XLS chassis to a Procat, all other chassis parts are identical. Part number is U7211 and is available from Schumacher and from Factory Works. You can then fit the XLS body and undertray to the buggy. The rest depends on how far you want to go to get it to look like a...

Re: Tips and tricks for buying a discontinued rere

Yes, it is a drop in replacement. My ProCat re-re was built using Jeff's (Factory Works) XLS chassis. I kept the ProCat body and under tray, but could have used an XLS body and undertray had I wanted.

Re: Tips and tricks for buying a discontinued rere

It's the holes for the shorty lipo holder. The 4 holes in the XLS chassis was the original position, you can see that using that position isn't going to work on the Procat chassis as the holes line up with the edges of the battery slots, so the battery holder was moved forward slightly so they could...
