Factory Works Ten4.1 project
OK OK even I got caught up in the last MIP "announcement". Should have known. So, lets do it again. The Ten4 was good, but the parts are just all out of date. The B44 front axles especially. Materials have vastly improved. Ideas have improved. Announcing the Ten4.1 I started by completely ...

Testing Chassis Flex On RC10 Buggy Variants
So, I got a little something something coming in for my FR01 based car, and the question of chassis flex came up. The ol' question of whether graphite chassis flex much more than aluminum tub chassis. I got to researching a bit, and it just became too bogged down, and too much opinion without facts,...

Re: RC10B44.3 intro, story, and tricky issues
They flipped one of the diffs, not sure if front or rear but if you turn the spur the correct direction figure out which end is spinning backwards and slip the diff over. Better yet, grab the manual and start from step 1 and see what else they messed up.

Building a battery the old school way
I bought a handful of Sanyo NiCd's to play with and decided to make a couple batteries. You could easily make a vintage looking pack for a runner or even just for display. The only downside is the cost involved is pretty high, ie roughly $30 just for the decals for one 6 cell pack. I made a 4 cell f...

Re: FanRC FR01 TEN4.1 (Revised)
I think I had my rear shocks set up per the World's manual, and the inner holes on the TEN 4.1 shock tower are the same width as I had them set up on the FR01, so inner tower holes and outer arm holes should be right, but I may be off there. It is good enough to start with either way. FR011041 BUILD...

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10
For something this specific, why doesn't this come with a prepainted body?

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10
I just saw the video...nice to know that Jay was involved with the entire project and had the final say. So the 2nd place winning 4WD prototype RC10 at the 85 race was that the MIP conversion (or an in house associated project)? That was an in-house conversion. rc.old.5_RC10 4WD proto Jay Halsey.jpg

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10
The story I heard was that AE had no involvement in the 4wd, it was a 3rd party and they only got it right before the race. I don't recall if I heard that in the gene husting videos or read it somewhere though.
Edit- here it is from the video, you want DVD #10

Re: The 2WD buggy that handily beat the RC10 in 1987
The body and appearance take some getting used to (ugly) which is the reason for the beer.   That looks to be a very nice example. Congratulations! I never had an Ultima, but I always liked them. It would be cool to have a JJ Ultima to sit next to my Masami XLS. :D I hoped the post ...

Re: The 2WD buggy that handily beat the RC10 in 1987
Back in the mid to late 1980's, our local off-road track separated 2wd buggies into three classes; 540 (open to anything that wasn't an RC10, 27 turn, 6 cells), RC10 stock (27t, 6 cells), and RC10 modified (any motor, 7 cells). I wanted something to race in 540 so I bought an Ultima when they were f...

Re: Ultima Worlds Spec
I found black and white photos of 2nd and 3rd. I re-watched the race, but didn't see any peppermint buggies in the A-main or in the pit area.
