Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

Just a quick update... Thought I'd try to at least temporarily salvage the front bumper as a place keeper till I get my hands on a reasonably priced new bumper. Still needs work but looking wayyyy better than when I got it. optima orig bumper.JPG Probably too glossy... optima bumper.JPG Or satin/fla...

Re: Notes on Anodizing

Good detail and point of reference Joseph. After doing a few parts myself, another desmut technique that worked for me, is a soft toothbrush and simple green alternated with dish soap. This removes the smut and wasn't abrasive for my purpose. From the anodizing process point-of-view dissimilar alloy...

Re: The late Graphite Team Car

I found, after polishing raw aluminum, undiluted Simple Green in my parts cleaner @ boiling temperatures, will stain/discolor aluminum. Probably both time and temperature played a part. When warmed to more normal temperatures no staining. I've not tried Simple Green Pro HD (purple color) it may be q...

Re: Gold Pan find - Help with ID please

Just finishing some preservation on a couple of cars. Lots of rusty/uneven colored originally blackened steel parts. I tried linseed oil. First I cleaned all the steel parts. Time consuming... Got out my oldest needle nose pliers and my heat gun. Dipped each piece individually in the oil then heated...

Re: RC10 Composite Craft Pro build

Wow nice start. Always enjoy watching your builds. Does anyone know if Losi made f & r wheels that fit the RC10? I think their disc style wheels would look good. While looking for disc wheels and discs for my LosiXXs I kept coming across A7129, discs for 2.2 Associated wheels. Almost ordered a c...

Re: Turbo Optima Mid + Turbo Optima Mid SE build/restore

The build thread still lives on here https://www.kyosho-optima.com/midse.html

I referred to it many times during my ongoing Turbo Optima Mid SE thread.

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Saw this the other morning.

blackdeer.jpg

It's a melanistic or "black" deer.
There are a few of them around the area. I've read they are less common than albino deer.
Wonder what he is thinking??? Am I next???
And yes, I need to kill/pull the weeds...

Re: Graphite RC10 build

Andy's Pro Arrow for the win.

About 90% trimmed and the fit is quite good.

Saw this feller just outside the garage today.
I was doing a brake job, guess he was curious.

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

Keith I measured the diff balls at slightly more than 3mm, so I am guessing 3mm is the magic number. The thrust bearing balls measure right at 1.5mm. The diff rings, which are what I am curious about, may be the same/similar to ZX5/ZX6 diff rings. I sent off a couple messages to sellers asking about...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

Hi Doug Nope, there are no dumb questions only dumb answers. And I've given my fair share of dumb answers. And you're pretty much spot on, not lost. I've been a little vague because I wasn't really sure of what direction I was going with the gear/ball diff decision. Story is that I got a large grab ...
