Kyosho Beetle 2014. This is the first new car I've got for myself since the 90's.

These cars look so cool with the body off, it's almost a shame to cover it up.

My Tamaxial Monster Beetle
This was born out of a desire I had as a kid. I also loved Monster Jam and wondered what would it be like if Tamiya ever sponsored a full size Monster Jam truck. I loved the Monster Beetle, but I could never afford it with my allowance. The reason I didn't use the standard Tamiya chassis for this build. 1. I hated the Frog/Blackfoot/Monster Beetle gearbox ( I had a used Frog as a kid, got it for $10 off my friend who then got a RC10) 2. The Tamiya Monster Beetle was only 2wd, I always thought lifted vehicles should always be 4wd. 3. It was pretty easy to source all the parts from Amazon that I wanted for the SMT10 chassis. This is also the first hardbody that I have ever painted (PITA)
Build:
Tamiya Sand Scorcher body (yup, it's not even a Monster Beetle body)
Tamiya Super Clod wheels and tires
Axial SMT10 chassis
Aftermarket metal gearbox with steel gears
Front and rear aluminum axles with steel gears
Internally sprung reservoir shocks (wanted the same look as Monster Jam Trucks)
Steel driveshafts
Shortening links to get the wheelbase to an acceptable length

My first car, well before an ESC was added, usually smelled more like burning flesh

Dang those resistors and motors got hot!

The resistors on mine almost never got hot. They aren't used at full throttle.
