Re: Once in a lifetime RC score? Maybe!

Yeah, the .12tz is no joke. I had one in a gt1 a few years ago. Loved the mid range power wheelies! The dirt out here is generally too loose for wheelies, but yeah, when it does get a bite, up comes the nose! I was utterly shocked to see that kind of performance out of such a small "stock"...

Re: Once in a lifetime RC score? Maybe!

What rear tires are those on the gt2? They just say "XTM"; no numbers or any name on them. Just had a chance to take the GT2 out for it's first daylight run where I could actually get into it, and all I can say about that OS .12 TZ is holy crap! Doesn't have the grunt of a big block, but ...

Re: Once in a lifetime RC score? Maybe!

Sounds like you got a great deal, GT2 looks like it will scrub up nicely It did. I got all three of them cleaned/repaired/reassembled Sunday night & Monday. Plopped a like-new Hitec 256 MG servo and an HK 2.4 Ghz receiver in the GT2, and that .12 TZ is a strong runner. Just need a body now. How...

Re: Trans/Clutch engagement?

didn't want to tear the trans apart if I didn't have to. It'd be a good idea. When I get a used kit, I tear them down as far as needed for thorough cleaning and inspection, and that includes disassembly of the transmission. If your boy didn't properly tighten the diff screw or put grease on the was...

Re: "Bought a house? Get all your R/C stuff out of mine.."

Good looking early GT. The blue tub is a Factory Team tub, and they often go for more than complete trucks when NIP. I'm warning you, though, two is only the beginning. I have 5 GTs and a GT2, and I'm still seeking! There are basically 4 versions of the GT: -Early black tub, white plastics -Late bla...

Once in a lifetime RC score? Maybe!

One thing I've noticed is that you don't find very many good deals on RC on Craigslist. For the most part, it's people wanting darn near new price for beat-to-hell vehicles. Or maybe the per-vehicle price isn't bad, but they won't separate a lot of 5 or 6 cars. Every once in a while, though, a sweet...

Re: A stamp nitro

I wouldn't worry about the temps, 255 is not too hot. That is probably well within the O.S. recommended range. I don't know off the top of my head what they recommend for the .18CVR, but for most engines O.S. recommends a range of 220-280. Thanks, good to know. This is actually my first OS motor. L...

Re: RC10GT RTR Roto start?

More than likely, if your pullstart intermitttently fails to retract, the problem is the one way bearing itself not disengaging. A rotostart typically reuses the existing bearing, so the problem will remain. Take the PS off (carefully), remove the one-way bearing, and clean it thoroughly with a solv...

B3 for the wife!

I suppose I'm very lucky that not only does my better half allow me to indulge in this hobby, but that she has a bit of an interest in it! She's timid about the speeds they run, nervous to control them, so I figured I'd build her a relatively simple and sedate buggy. So I went looking for a decent r...

Re: Team (tub) car part 2

Should be a nice build when done! That said, I tend to agree with those who say run 'em. I can see doing one or two shelf queens that are truly one of a kind, or a replica of one of your runners. But I build the cars to drive 'em. I build 'em up real nice, all clean and pretty, then go beat on 'em a...

New to me OFNA Ultra LX Comp!

Much as I love my RC10 buggies and nitro trucks, there are definitely limitations to the 2WD 1/10 scale stuff. They just really need a nicely groomed track, and there are none of those anywhere near me. Closest track is almost 30 miles away, and it's not well maintained, nor is it geared toward 1/10...
