Re: Nix/CNCrc Stealth car build- "Stealth Team Car" version
Looking great!!! For a sport version... "IF" AE had committed to the Stealth as a production kit, I'm guessing they would have adapted the new suspension to the tub. The tooling and production was already in place and would have been less expensive than retooling to manufacture new fibergl...

Re: The great Re-Re-bate
Interesting question, and one I asked myself several times while cleaning up the Team Car. I finally came to the personal conclusion that the answer depends on the car and the intent of the build. For example, if the intent is to restore a rare period-correct car for the shelf (Endinger, original Wo...

Re: RC10 Team Car ready for refurb
Finally got the Team Car back together, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I still need to paint the shell, but haven't decided what to do with it yet...

Re: Dyna Storm Ready for Refurb
Finally tracked down a complete decal sheet, and it's on the way! I still need to track down a couple other items to replace existing scratched parts for the shelfer restore (lower chassis deck, bumper, rear motor guard). But, the decal sheet was my biggest road block because they're so hard to find...

Re: Was the RC10 WC Re-Re A Dud?
Hopefully it's not thought of as a 'dud'. It added some additional excitement to the vintage scene and brought some needed parts back to the market. It also serves as a good choice for someone wanting to buy something off the shelf that they can run in their local vintage class. Many new products ar...

Re: RC10 Team Car ready for refurb
I used oven cleaner with lye. But, it was very corrosive and not pleasant to work with. Next time, I'll just pay the extra to have the anno place strip it.

Re: RC10 Team Car ready for refurb
I've given all the parts an additional soak in mild soapy water (dish soap), and an additional 5 minute boil. They should be all set now.
The first time I put it back together after peroxide treatment, I only rinsed them. That proved to be insufficient. Lesson learned...

Re: RC10 Team Car ready for refurb
I had a big time bummer a couple months ago when I discovered the anno on the original tub was quickly fading around, and near, all the nylon parts. Looked like it got bit by the peroxide bug. I stripped it all down and had it re anodized black again (and also gave the nylon another boil). The anno ...

Re: Triumph Discussion
I was able to replace the standard spur with a Durango one and slipper pads by putting a bearing in the centre of the spur. to get the slipper to lock down properly I had to put a 4mm washer up against the outer slipper plate to make up for the narrower spur gear Can you clarify your spur/slipper s...

Re: Triumph Discussion
I don't have any race setup info, but recently restored a Triumph and might put together a runner with the leftover bits. I like the info you provided on the Durango spur setup, as the standard spur and slipper are a big pain-point on the Triumph (non-standard, and hard to find). Be careful with you...

Re: "Just run the %$#@!! thing!"
Run it stress free while replacement 'rere' tubs are available! If you scratch the heck out of it and want to return it to shelf status, just grab a brand new tub.
Rere's should be relatively easy to refurb for the next couple years.

Re: High School CAD Class
Pinion T count and tires: Some additional detail might get the response you're looking for. Is your track small and tight, or is it open and fast? If it's small and tight, a smaller pinion might give you some needed acceleration between your tight corners. If it's more wide open, a larger pinion wil...
