Re: Thunder Tiger SparrowHawk XT
What about the Thunder Tiger Phoenix XT? Isn't it the same truck as the Associated RC10T? I should be able to sub Thunder parts with Associated if need be. I can get the 2wd 2.4ghz brushless for $239.

Re: Motor advice
Thanks for all the info. In the end I decided to sell the car. It was going to costs me $100 for a NIB Kyosho LeMans motor, and even then it's still a 20+ year old motor. If I wanted to upgrade it to a brushless motor with new ESC and 2.4 GHZ transmitter/reciever it was going to costs me around $350.

Re: Motor advice
Ha Ha, well, I have a 4200MaH battery . . . so a little more than 4 minutes, but it is popping the solder after 2.5 to 3 minutes. This is why I was debating on upgrading to the LeMans Speed 480T (8 min run time, 26,500 rpm, 19 turn) It's actually the same turn rating as the 240s, but it is 1,500 rpm...

Re: which pinion for Turbo Optima
OK, so windings determine the pinion, not so much the run time. Does RPM effect the pinion size as well?

which pinion for Turbo Optima
My manual recommends a 9-11t pinion for the 240 series motors, 12-14t pinion for the 360 series motors, but which pinion should I run for a 480 series motor? I am guessing 15-17t. With the stock 41/18 center gear and 26t counter gear I can put anywhere from a 9 to 18t pinion on it. I am looking at b...

Re: Motor advice
The wheels do spin freely The car does roll smooth, I cleaned it and lubed all moving parts. I removed the chain back in 1990, it is now belt driven Yes, it is a ball bearing car, not bushings I have just been running it in the streets I am running a 14t pinion with the Kyosho torque limiter, maybe ...

Motor advice
I have a 1986 Kyosho Turbo Optima that still has the stock LeMans 240S motor in it. I bought it in 1990, and it has been sitting in storage for 20 years. I recently dug it out and . . . it still runs! The only problem I am having is the motor gets sooo hot running 8.4v NiMH 4200MaH batteries that th...
