Re: 1984 Fever!!

I was 29 in '84,lol. Yeah, road salt is a real killer. My wife's '79 Duster has rot on the front sub-frame,which sucks because its a V8, buckets, console car with T-roof. And it can't be plated because of the rust[failed its last inspection]. But if you really want to confuse the Ricers, try driving a...

Re: traxxas history?

In regards to the complaint about the noisy[32pitch]outer gears on the Rad/Bullet/Hawk and Sledgehammer transmissions,Traxxas did offer a 48 pitch conversion for these transmissions. I can't recall the part number at the moment but I will try to find it and post it later on. As to the feeling some p...

Re: 1984 Fever!!

My Bashing Buddy just scrapped his Supra. Our Canadian winters and road salt were kinda hard on the old girl. The only thing that stopped stuff from falling thru the floor was the carpet, lol. We used it for an ice racer for the last two winters but when the driver's seat fell thru the floor, we figu...

Re: Optima questions

Yikes,I knew it wasn't going to be an easy conversion but I wasn't expecting it would cost more than I paid for the Optima! The only reason I wanted to try the belt drive was to reduce drive line noise. I guess I'll stick with the Chain Drive. Thanks for the info guys! Due to the age and condition o...

Re: stain removal from nylon

A friend from another website, uses peroxide[hair bleach] to clean his parts. He soaks them in a big Rubbermaid tub sitting in the sun for a couple of days. And so far it seems to work very well. All of his vintage RCs that I have seen look brand spankin' new.

Optima questions

Good Day all, I bought a rear motor Optima about four years ago. I picked it up from the original owner for $75.00. It was original right down to the mechanical speed controller. All it needed to run was a newer Tamiya battery connector. The previous owner blew the drive chain and bought a new chain...

Re: need to vent

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

I wouldn't be too concerned about a TRX dnf. They are already battle tested and race proven.

I wish I could say the same for my Savage, lol.

Just out of curiousity what ever became of the dreaded nitro Hawk? Did you ever get it back together?

Re: need to vent

I think everyone has an RC that they love to hate. Mine is my Savage 21. My main complaint is that I have never managed to drive the pile of crap more than thirty feet before something blew up or broke! So it was drive thirty feet, work on it for a week and repeat . After a few months of that I said ...
