Re: Lazer ZX build...

When I was running the early Schumacher cat XLS, Procat, BossCat etc. I was having belts made and was selling them to distributors, hobby shops etc. The company here in the states that I used was SDP (stock drive products). They make nearly every size (pitch and US standard or MM), and formulation (...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Yeah, all the parts I could see were blue anodized. Still bitter :(. Anyways, I was looking at the ZX5 front castor blocks yesterday @ the LHS. They look to be a few MM wider than the stock ZX blocks. But they are available in several different castor ranges (4, 7deg & others I assume). Wonderin...

May be purchasing a Pro X for vintage racing. Saw the post, and was wondering if anyone still a line on a new body? Thanks-Jeff

Re: ultima with some aftermarket parts

Just saw this post. I am currently thinking about building an vintage Ultima to race here in California. I saw your tranny querry, and I believe it is actually a Team Pit Stop tranny. They were from Florida if memory serves. I was sponsored by them in the early 90'S and it looks familiar :). Anyways...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Thanks, yeah I had already changed the steering arm since the pics were taken. I just need to mount a speedo and I should be close to running. I received my new universals from Kyosho America today (w5063), and a pure 10 diff assembly as well. In stock, and less than $20 USD :). On a very sad note h...

Re: CAT questions

As for the cat EC I would say sell it because NIB cars are worth more money to collectors (I assume you are not a collector as you are contimplating selling it in the first place and you probably don't appreciate it). Two, there are very few parts that are compatible between the axis and the 3k. you...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Ok, finally have a minute to cover the slipper modification. First, I would like to say that this modification requires some simple but basic machining (lathe to be exact), so if you have no axcess to a lathe, than you are SOL. But if you do have access to a lathe, then this modification should take...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Thanks! I would never have attempted it if my LHS had not been blowing out all their Kyosho stuff cheap. As for the belt cover, thanks but I have several NIP ones now that will be going on e-bay at some point :).

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Thanks guys. James, I was looking for an updated tower set, and yours seemed like it would be the ticket. I am nearly finished with the project (begining the radio install) and should have it running soon. I do have one question though, as I have never run one of these cars. Does anybody run the rol...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Here are some of the mods that I have done to enhance performance/reliability or looks. First, I retrofitted a modern style Schumacher slipper assembly to the original drive hub. Than I pinned the differential drive rings and bored a 8mm hole in the diff pulley so it would be bearing supported. Next...

Re: Lazer ZX build...

Here goes...These are pics of the car how I received it, shame what people can do to a car  I got it cheap though, and it has a CF chassis that is in decent shape. I don't believe it is stock -maybe composite craft? Also it came with a different front a-arm and hub set. RS maybe?
