Re: Repro a trimmed body?
Boy, it's tough. I've tried twice and have had mixed success; once it worked great and once it didn't work at all. It depends on the body. Holes are no problem, but if the body has a lot of curves and material trimmed away, it's just simply difficult to put that material back, well sealed to the ori...

Re: Building (crafting?) your own A-Arms
Delrin is the commercial name of acetal. Nylon 6 and Nylon 6/6 are just different formulations of nylon, with the 6/6 being stronger. The original RC10 parts are made of Nylon 6/6. Both nylone and acetal machine well. Acetal is more rigid and slightly more susceptible to fracture, while nylon is mor...

Re: Glue aluminum to aluminum?
JB Weld is always a great place to start, but (commence laughing) I've found that Mighty Putty works well on all kinds of materials, including aluminum.
No, Billy Mays did not put me up to this.

Re: acetone ?
I've had great results with acetone on nylon rims. If they are stock associated, your B3 rims should be nylon, but proceed at your own risk. ABS, polystyrene, polycarbonate, etc. and acetone don't mix. I usually cut the tire off with an x-acto knife and then soak the rims until the CA glue dissolves...

I've never raced there, but I'm pretty sure I've been there. Ah, the good ol' days.

Re: Pics of your favorite RC10
the way i have the car setup right now, with the crp spikes, that's how it was run at macungie. the following year we went back to alburtis and ran there until '94. there, we ran the skinny schumacher cat front tires on all four corners. after that, racing on hardwood kinda dyed around here. In '88...

Re: Battery connector timeline?
I don't know about the deans, but the red/black Sermos-type connector was created by Anderson Power Products in the mid 1960s. I recall the connectors got widespread R/C car use in the mid-80s when companies like Sermos and Lightspeed released copies of them (after the patent likely expired) that we...

Great find! I've always really liked the Icarus; the pipe frame looks good on it. A friend had one BITD; it was fast and nearly indestructible.

Re: Finally Got a Turbo Rocky!
Thanks!
It's one of my favorite car bodies from the 80s. I'd love one NIP to paint box art, but I can't find one and even Marwan isn't repro-ing them yet.
Maybe someday...

Robert

Re: Finally Got a Turbo Rocky!
They made it to the US, but, as far as I can tell, in very few numbers. I remember inquiring in 1988 and the Turbo Rocky was a long lead, special order from my LHS; I believe that was true of even Tower Hobbies. I looked at the Tower ads in all my 1987 and 1988 RCCAs and there are no Turbos listed. ...

I believe somewhere around mid 1987. They were/are a tough find in the US.

Re: Finally Got a Turbo Rocky!
Thanks for the comments. I'll probably just end up running it occasionally and "gently" on grass in the backyard. Now I just have to wait for Spring, as my backyard currently resembles an ice skating rink!

Finally Got a Turbo Rocky!
I've been wanting a Turbo Rocky for 21 years (since I read a review in the Nov 1987 issue of Radio Race Car - that review is now in the Scans Archive), and one finally arrived today. I got it as a $200 BIN on eBay about a week ago. It is in wonderful shape; must have only been run a couple of times....
