870C Driver Shafts

Post by Synergy »

So there’s plenty of information on converting to hex drives which I don’t want to do.

I’m looking for a driveshaft solution for my 870C where I can retain the existing square drive, are there any readily available options that don’t mess with carriers/wheels etc. Basically I’m looking for as close to a drop in and go option as possible?

I’m running wide front track width.

there is no drop in replacement for yokomo driveshafts since they are unique in the way they assemble; the square drive locked in place with a set screw.

You can replace them with kyosho universals/cvds but they don't have a flat machined on the axle. They are a pin drive with a threaded shaft. You could modify either the square drive with a pin slot and use a nut to secure, or grind a flat on the kyosho axles for the square drive set screw.

there are other brands besides kyosho that make cheaper replacements that fit kyosho cars. 3racing, some other brands. there are a bunch of threads on this.

I thought that might be the case.

The issue I have is a pull to the right under acceleration, I’ve swapped out all the bearings for new so it leaves me thinking that my driveshafts need truing, I think that’s what I need to address and see how I get on.

I would attribute that to loose steering that is biased to the right. Change your observed alignment a few flicks to the left. 4wd cars always get a 'sway' to them under power.

I’m running A&L steering, it’s all pretty hooked up, it tracks straight as a die low speed but pulls hard on half to full power .
