old tricks but they left out a big thing.

when ca is applied to certain fabrics like cotton it has a exothermic reaction. itgets hot and an burn your skin and even potentially catch fire (ive never heard of it happening but it can do so)

jeremy clarkson found out the hard way in the top gear Vietnam special.

I have done that to at least 100 carbon graphite chassis plates and never had anything except for burning eyes, but even when I glue tires the CA does that. I have also picked up a car after a race that I didn't do that to a chassis only to find the wreck I had during the race split the chassis and now I have a CG splinter right under my fingernail. It doesn't feel to good, just sayin. Not saying that a glued chassis would have prevented it, but definately would have helped contain it.

It takes practice to make it look as good as the one in that article, but it is what all the cool kids do. 8)

That's pretty much the exact procedure I used when I fabricated my own CF shock towers. I personally like to color the edges black with Sharpie before CA'ing them, as it gives it a nice glossy black look. I posted some pics of this in response to a request in the Schumacher forum:

I dont like the way they use the glue on the plastic, that is a disaster waiting to happen. Personally I like to use a small bottle cap.

Also a lot of 1/12 guys like to really round the edges of their chassis so they don't drag on the carpet. This really thins out the outer layers of carbon making it prone to delaminating so be careful.
