Threaded gold shocks??
Hi Guys,
Here's an interesting one.
A good friend is restoring his friends mid for him and it has these threaded shocks....I questioned their originality but hes sure they were in the new kit box along with a wire wing mount?? I've asked for pics of the wing mount.
From the pic these look darker gold than Kyosho golds so perhaps Duratrax? But I've never seen threaded ones before....

Re: Threaded gold shocks??
I saw that over on the other site, I'm stumped! I have never seen a threaded gold kyosho or duratrax but I hope someone can answer this
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

I guess you could do this with the right equipment, but then the gold anodising would be gone. I can't say I've ever seen these before.

Re: Threaded gold shocks??
I haven't seen those before, but I know Kyosho made special parts for their race teams. There was a local racer that was sponsored by Kyosho to drive the lazer, and his gold shocks had the swivel ball in the shock cap. This similar to the cap on the Platnimum shocks.
The concept has been around for some time, so it's possible that they did a limited run just to see how it worked.
I also remember a company modifying the standard losi silver shocks.

What's the story behind this model? Looks like a gently more modern redesign of the Yankee Electra (elektra?)

In French, but maybe you can use a translator.
Most things on the car are borrowed and mixed together. So it should not be too surprising they copied the gold shock design and modernised it a bit.

Re: Threaded gold shocks??
I´ve dismantled an Ena 3D shock and put a Kyosho cap on it.
The Ena shock has the same 2 O-ring setup at the botton as the kyosho shock.

Re: Threaded gold shocks??
Now if those were readily available still ... would be a great mod for old-is-new kyosho builds.
Any idea which lengths they had: comparable to short, medium and long by option-house?
