Kyosho Gallop Experts please.!!!!

Post by Mad Racer »

I want to buy a Gallop in a few more months to add to my Kyosho line up.

Now what is the mechanical difference between the the Gallop and the MK2. Apart from the obvious like shell & shocks???

From what I understand the front has one way bearings?? Hubs i think. Not really sure.

Is there a big difference between the two in performance.??

Any advice much appreciated..

I´m no expert - but thought I would share what I know about the gallop anyway :-)

The Mk I has a single front shock setup with torsion bars,
The front has one way bearings and no differential. Wheelbase is app. 260mm

The Mk II has a gfk radio plate, 2 shocks setup at the front, no torsion bars and has a front differential with normal bearings/bushings.
The rear suspension arms alloy mounts has been changed to enhance the steering with compressed rear shocks. Wheelbase is app. 270mm

Gary,

That looks really nice with the aluminum wheels. I'm glad to see you were able to find/fabricate the aluminum roll cage parts.

Regards,
Roger

Thanks Roger, I love this car, one of my favorites. Like Rick used to say, they're all my children.

I made the straight bars from the KS tubing as you suggested but I couldn't get a good bend in it for the upper piece so I resorted to using a chunk of brake line I had in the shop. It polished up really nice and was easy to bend with my tubing bender. Came out ok, if not perfect.
Thanks again for the great car!
Gary
