Arrma RC?

Post by RC104ever »

Hey I saw this ad for a brand I've never heard of before.

Anyone know anything? What caught my eye was the 2 year warranty!

Uk based but no european distribution channel yet :?

I asked them on their facebook page and all their cars come fully ball-raced. I also asked if there'd be a kit or stick-radio but never got an answer.

I wonder how Kyosho feels about them selling a buggy called the Raider.

I doubt it was trademarked. It's a pretty generic name.

To me it looks like they are trying to one up Traxxas and they have pretty much one vehicle in each category. I also noted in the pic I saw that it looks like they use the crappy Tamiya plugs. But the all metal gears n the tranny certainly sounds promising. Also the reversible left hand / right hand controller is kind of neat.

My lhs has one of the short course trucks as a demo. Seems like a good platform. Has fluid filled diff and some good points like that. The transmitter is some funny looking

I read on rctech or rcunivers that they are suppose to be a competitior to losi and traxxas. Price point cheaper than both, stinger parts than both with more options as standard equipment, and have the adjustability that hardcore racers want. They do look pretty good.

As for the name raider, there is a few helicopters with that name sold on eBay so I don't think it's a problem.

My LHS has all of them, The Raider is not bad looking, but all in all, I think I will pass, the SC truck looks terrible and cheap to me, and the reversible remote has a very very low quality, fragile look to it. I am NOT a fan of RTR cars, and these are no different, I have owned a Traxxas Slash before and loved it, but I am a HUGE supporter of building your car from a kit, but that's another topic all together..lol

I have not driven an Arrma, so I can discredit them right off the bat, but If I were to pony up for something brand new, I would go for the Team Durango DEX410. For entry level, I used to say Duratrax Evader ST, but those dont exist anymore. My opinion for a starter would still be Traxxas...

Just my 2 cents...

The lhs has an ST and a buggy but for those who have seen them outta the box are the wheels/tires in the SC area of 2.2x 3.0?

Thanx

Yes - the wheels and tires are the 'standard' SC size. The wheel looks like it's a Traxxas Slash style - hexes both ends. I didn't check the offset but I'm sure that it's VERY close to the Traxxas - which is as close to a standard as exists in SC presently.

The tires have a very 'hard' edge but actually other than that (and the resulting tendency to 'catch') they were among the most 'grippy' that I've ever tested on a vehicle like this on the track that I sometimes use.

I reviewed the truck for RC Driver - and was totally suprised at the quality and the overall feel. It drove VERY well for what it is - an entry level SC truck.

The radio was quite good actually - no range problems and it's really cool the way that it switches from right to left handed.
