Comp Crawling
I know it's not vintage, yet...in another 10 or so years, but thought I would share a successful run up and down a switchback in the rock outcrop behind the local WallyWorld.
I have 2 other videos with unsuccessful descents, but who wants to see a RC tunble to the bottom of a small cliff I guessing everyone...maybe I will post the link to the failed attempt once they are uploaded to youtube for a few laughs.
The rock is a very weathered low grade slate or slightly metamorphosed shale. The surface is fairly smooth but it's not fissile, so it doesn't break away, which helps a bit. There are a few strategically places lose rocks of course. It's a bit more fun with the other locals bring out their crawlers, but given my schedule, I just wait til the wife has something to do and head out

Re: Comp Crawling
I went out on a limb with my first Losi
Just kidding, this Losi is one durable crawler and I'm very happy with it. ALMOST makes me want a jrx2 to actually see how it compares to my RC10s
You will see a bit of it's durability in the following videos once they get up loaded.

Re: Comp Crawling
I picked up the Losi Mini Rock Crawler Pro (roller) for my son, new build in box for under $70 (at the LHS), got a cheap brushless, tiny little lipo and used a spare full size servo I had laying around. Absolutely love the thing. We can run about 1/2 hour on a 1300 MaH lipo and climb up all kinds of stuff.
We have about $130 total into it, including a 2.4 radio (had the radio, got an extra receiver). We have easily put 20+ hours on that poor little thing.
