Charity Walk-a-thon for my Daughter

Post by JK Racing »

As some of you know, and some do not, my daughter is handicapped. My wife wrote up a quick e mail to send to all my friends, but I felt I could post it here, if nothing more, it is good reading and shows you that there are still great programs out there (even in this economy).

If anyone cares to donate, I thank you in advance, but posting this is a type of therapy for me, mentally, and I am not attempting to solicit donation.

If this is out of line....admins, please remove.

Danielle is my niece.

Dear Family and friends,

Danielle and Katelyn are preparing for the 5th Annual Destination Independence Walk for Blind Children's Learning Center on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Danielle has walked the 5k each year and has been one of the top ten fundraising teams for the past four years. They have been a big part of Danielle's life and have made a great impact with her education and they still do to this day. Even though she no longer goes to the school, they still offer her services and help with her continued education. The school offers a mentor program for the older kids to come back and connect with the younger children, which Danielle is really looking forward to participating in. But for now she is actively mentoring her cousin, Katelyn.

Katelyn has been apart of the center for the past 2 years. Since her starting in center with Blind Children's Learning Center, she has made accomplishments that have blown her doctors and therapist away. She has gone from rolling to sitting with out support and just within these last couple of weeks she can sit up on her own, which I have posted a video of her doing just that, and she is starting to crawl around. She is also more aware and is starting to interact with toys and even playing with us. We feel that all this improvement has been with the help of Blind Children's Learning Center and are so greatful that we have them. Not only do they help Katelyn, but they also offer support for the entire family. They have many programs throughout the year and all are family oriented.

I think I can speak for all of us, that we are very Blessed to have BCLC available for our children and owe so much to this organization for their tireless dedication and love to children like Danielle and Katelyn. I am attaching the link to Katelyn's video of her sitting.

After watching the video and reading this long email, we hope that you would please help Team Katelyn / Danielle by:

1. Donating $1.00, $5.00 or $10.00 to Blind Children's Learning Center,
for Team Katelyn/Danielle.

2. Send this email to everyone in your address book and ask them to
please do the same.

You may go to the website to donate by credit card. Just click register here under 5k walk and be sure to enter team Katelyn/ Danielle
Blind Children's Learning Center Web Site

or you may send your check, payable to, Blind Children's Learning Center to:

To: Team Katelyn/Danielle
C/o Blind Children's Learning Center
18542-B Vanderlip
Santa Ana, CA 92705

We would love for you to walk with us - email or call me for more
information at or visit the website at http://www.blindkids.org.

NOTE: Your company might have a matching gift program - that could
double your donation! :)

Thank you for your time and support!

I have a daughter that is 7 now. When my wife was pregnant with her she developed heart failure. I almost lost my wife and daughter so I can sympathise with you. Best of luck.
