Lol! I was too busy drooling over your photos to notice what you'd written in the text

P.S; you may have to ignore my suggestion for the Trinity black spur gear..... I think these were only available for the single-plate/Hydradrive slipper set-up.

Hello!

For the black spur gear you can use the one from TLR 22 1.0 (TLR3979 for 76T, TLR3980 for 78T and TLR3981 for 86T).

Have a nice day!

I installed the tires. I used the same front and rears that come with the XX Kinwald kit. I also added the clear disc's.

I'm not a fan of wire wing mounts. I have been thinking of trying to make a XX4 or XXX plastic wing mount work, but they are designed for bodies that end at the rear shock tower without going past. To use a plastic mount on the XX style bodies, you must cut some rather large holes in the rear of the body to clear the mounts. I don't want to do that, so I guess I am stuck with wire mounts, unless anyone has any ideas?

Hi Lavigna!

There is a XX carbon rear shock tower made by Rustidesign to use plastic wing mounts, but I think it requires to cut the rear of the body...

https://rustidesign.fr/pieces-carbone-fr/team-losi/xx-cr/support-amortisseur-arriere-xx.html

It requires the use of AE 91718 wing mounts.

Have a nice week-end!

^ Essajay - Thanks for the links. I am a big fan of Rustidesign. He makes such nice stuff. I want to build a second XX just so I can use his parts. Unfortunately, as you already said, his wing system leaves me with the same problem of cutting 2 big holes in the body.

I love the paint on that Protoform body! It looks great. Thanks again!

Jamin - I have been thinking about some of your notes and I have made the following changes.

I moved the shocks to the center hole positions. I definitely agree this is a cleaner look. Thanks for the suggestion.

I also started to see what you mentioned about the blue springs against the blue collar. I put on some black springs, and I think it looks great. Perhaps not as iconic Lisi as the blue springs, but more stealth, which I prefer.

I have these black 5 spoke wheels I am going to mount. They should look nice.

Side by side comparison. Only difference is springs and position of the shocks.

Oh my, this is looking killer now! Those black springs look so much better, and shows off the collars nicely. The fact you are going black wheels also really sets this build apart. Stunning work Lavigna!

I think I might have to re-visit my build to try and keep up with the level you are setting

PS: Are you keeping those RPM arms or looking for originals?

^ Jamin - Thanks! I always have your past work in the back of my mind when I am working on my builds and build threads. You set the bar so high!

am looking for a set of silver front arms, but I have actually grown to like the RPM arms as well. I didn't think I would.

I changed to the 5 spoke wheels. I realized as I was doing the swap that the front 5 spoke wheels are for a XX4, and therefore wider. I put them on for now but I will eventually replace them with the correct wheels. I added some silver to the tire letting. Not sure if I should color both ends of each tire, or remove it, lol.

I finally got the correct Lunsford screws for the transmission. For use with the motor centering kit, 1 1/8" is the correct length.

The picture on the carpet in natural light really helps to show the beautiful Graphite swirl in the chassis.

I really want to get the body & wing painted, but I just can't decide on a color/theme. Any ideas? I have some cool decal options coming I will show once I get them.

Small update. I made a wing mount with some. 062 wire. I mounted the Protoform Ripper wing with Kinwald wing mounts.

I mounted the wing real low for a streamlined look. I have taped off some of the body and I'm considering having a go at painting it myself. The problem is I don't have an airbrush anymore, and I hate rattle cans. Anyone here a decent painter? I have the basic layout and colors I want done.

The last big thing to do is get the body painted. Here are some decals I am considering.

I live the OG Kinwald decals. However I'm not a fan of yellow, and wouldn't mind keeping these sealed, as they are getting hard to find. That's why I had MCI print me a batch in blue and silver. I prefer this color way over the yellow.

I would also like to incorporate some Protoform decals. I love how they look, and bright pink just screams vintage 90's.

Anyone interested in painting the body?

Before I mounted this D2, I removed the end pieces and added the Trinity wrap around heat sink. I don't think I will keep this motor on, as it's not the correct D2 version, but it doesn't look bad for now. These are some of my favorite motors.

I want to give a huge thanks to member Essajay for giving me these rare Trinity Kinwald decals. I have always been a fan of the D2 decals on this particular sheet, and they will go perfect with the D2 motor on the buggy.

Thanks again Essajay!
