One thing I don't understand: if you don't plan to run it, why putting in the expensive and modern electronics?

Maybe the old stuff is a bit too large with the driver in place?
It doesn't disturb me, but I admit it makes me curious too. Why don't you use something a little cheaper Mike?
I've seen you're selling off nice old stuff to finance a runner (right?).

Further suggestions? It's kinda hard to think of anything that could be improved really.

It really is up to you , for me, I'd try using a different driver. The current one looks wonderfull, but a lexan, hollow one, would house the spectrum receiver easily.
Maybe working headlights shining throogh the front bumper, and a couple small print decals on the lower horizontal parts of the tubes?

i tryed the working headlights originally, as you can see from the early pictures... i finally chopped them off at some point for whatever reason which elludes me at the moment lol. i can always use a strap loop on the front and throw them back on if i wanted..

with the driver.. i tryed a lexan driver, and its a pretty tight fit with the associated driver... i would actually need to chop almost everything up to his arms off.. It looks good.. but i went with the tamiya i think just for looks really.

most of the parts ive been selling off randomly are doubles, triples, or stuff i just dont need etc.. if you looked at my parts boxes you guys would have a cow lol, ton of stuff in there from different hobby shops ive visited that had great stuff still and i bought everything lol..

i went with the modern electronics actually cause there were spares really. the tekin was only ran a few times but i was actually using it to race, and i hated it lol. the LRP 7.1 i am using seems much snappier and i actually like it alot better than the tekin for racing.. i threw it in also cause its tiny as hell and unless i change the driver over... not much room in there..

well i lengthed the front plate to give a bit more coverage and a made a aluminum peice as a steering wheel mount.. im going to photoetch some guage faces and make some sort of aluminum guages.

also made some vinyl stickers for the wing sides

AWESOME! That car turned out gorgeous. I really like how you kept the body very minimal, it has a Javelin-like feel, and the Javelin is one of the coolest buggies ever imho.

Very impressive work.

thanks man.. ya i was originally going to make a fiberglass body, then something with lexan... then i just went "javelin style" with just a few touches.. i like the lengthened front nose plate there.. gives it a bit more coverage... overall i think it came out just like i wanted... although my next one will be much better here as i learned alot from this one and custom designing in general lol...

I prototyped the real racing chassis also this weekend... it looks good and all the parts look like they will fit perfectly.. ill post some pics when i clean it up and make sure its structurally strong enough to run etc.. and get going on production.. they will look sweet.

i finally found the drill bits i need to drill steel properly with little to no "walking" of the bit, ordering them tommorow... mcmaster #27445A25

I even thought of cancelling the real Mike D racing order in favour of a custom javelin fitting the ultima ladder frame...
But I already have the rc10 parts ready and the real racing is very very cool also

Awesome work Mike!!! When you do the production run are you going to continue brazing the tubes or will you dabble with the TIG?

I really really like all the engineering you put into every aspect of the design all the way down to the flat panel dashboard and the subtle tweaks with the frame. Very nicely done!!!

thanks adam... im sticking with the brazing.. ive used a tig.. and while it does great joints.. it leaves no room for corrections and with 3/8" steel tube... i think brazing actually produces a better joint and flows into the joints and really makes a strong chassis. plus if i need to move something like a millimeter, i can heat the joint and move it slightly... makes corrections nice and easy.

what do you guys think, any ideas? i sorta like terminator cause the car looks like the terminator with no body on it. Im making up a photoetched front name plate and want something cool. its going to go on my new guage pod i am making with integrated guages.
