ID this RC10T

Post by rwordenjr »

Recently picked this 10T up… Am I correct in thinking that this is one of the last runs of the original 10T design? Chassis is a C stamp and has all black parts as you can see.

Yes, later 10T's had the back arms, same as used on the T2.

Most of my 10T's ( 4 of 5) have those arms. The other has the V2 white arms.

for a vintage rc10t and using 15t brushed motor, what pinion do you think i should use? using 87t stock spur

An 18 or 19T should be close. If using lipo, I'd consider 17T.

Actual usage type will also effect this. Things like grass put more load on the motor, requiring a lower gear ratio.

And then there is the motor itself. Even when comparing motors with the same rating, they can perform and behave drastically different.

That high of ratio ehh? I was thinking around 21-22t. It’s. Reedy radon 15t motor

The original 10T has a 2.25:1 transmission ratio, while newer trucks have 2.4 or 2.6 ratios. So you can't directly compare the pinion size to that of newer trucks.

As a general baseline, something in the 10-11:1 overall ratio is close for a 15T in a stadium truck.

The current Reedy Radon motors look almost identical to Integy motors. While they are better quality than the Hackmoto, Apex, etc stuff on Amazon and Ebay, they are nowhere near that of quality motors from the 90's and early 00's.

Not to discourage you, just understand that those motors won't perform or hold up as well as older Reedy (etc) motors did.

On the topic of late run 10T, did the original tub trucks ever come with neon yellow wheels? Or did those start with the T2?

I remember cracking the box on a very late 10T sport truck in the hobby shop and it had the yellow 3pc wheels. The T2 was already out at that point.
