Jammin J-550 Pro-SE Steering Enhancement Kit

Jammin J-550 Pro-SE Steering Enhancement Kit

I have two of these kits…so I decided to open one up, install it on my Pro-SE and see what it’s all about.

The shock tower is the same shape as the original, slightly thicker at 3mm instead of 2.5mm and with different camber holes.

The rest of the parts are standard Losi stuff:
A-1017 LXT spindle carriers
A-1008 hinge pins
A-5015 shock cartridge spacers
A-6215 #4 narrow washers

Also mentioned in the instructions:
A-5223 - Silatech 275 - 25wt oil
A-5046 - #56, Teflon, red pistons
A-5150 - 2.5” 2.3 pink springs, cut down 3 coils
—OR—
A-5130 - 2” 3.2 silver springs

I happen to have a used set of the preferred A-5150 pink springs that I wasn’t afraid to cut down..

Notice the Jammin step pin rear tires too..

Nice! I noticed when I tried the LXT carriers on my JRX2 that the camber location on the LXT carrier is higher and results in more camber gain and bump steer even at the highest spindle setting. The new camber location on the tower would probably solve this.

Overall..the camber link is raised, lengthened and made more perpendicular to the chassis centerline. Also aligning up better with the swept front arms..

I never changed the front springs on mine when I got it back in the day, I don't think. Might have overlooked it. After reading the insert, I'm not sure I did much beyond putting in the shock tower and LXT uprights, because I don't recall the shims and shock location, either. I think I tried running cut down orange springs at one point, but that might have been when I was parking lot racing. I recently got blue fronts for running around on concrete like I do these days so I might finally give them a try.
