My attempt at a Tomahawk build
My attempt at a Tomahawk build
I have been going at this stupid thing for years now. This week, I got completely ticked off with the front end, and ripped it apart. I can not find a set of shocks that look good on this thing, using the stock shock mounts, so I am holding out for an aftermarket front end kit, or I am going to make my own, larger shock mounts, so I can use something beefier than the originals.
So, here she is.....not much to look at really, but I thought some of you Kyosho nuts may get a kick out of the hop ups on it: CRP rear shock mount, Parma shocks, some other misc CRP parts, but most importantly, the aluminum nerf bars........I got these from good ole Mr. Lexan some time ago. I had never seen them, until I saw the auction that they were in, and to make a long story short, I set my auctionsniper up, forgot I changed my ebay password, and promptly lost them to Lexan for way less than I was willing to pay. After much begging and pleading, he sent me one of the two sets of nerf bars that were in the auction. Thank you again Jay.
Anyways, this is one of those projects where I watch out for the parts that I want for it, and as I pick them up, I install them. Right now, I am trying to come up with a CRP rear axle set, and of course, the elusive aluminum rear guard (JG I believe.)
Here's Johnny!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My attempt at a Tomahawk build
That thing is killer! I love the side nurfs! I have a pattern I made for my friend Franco for taller front and rear shock towers. He used shocks off some new 1/12 the scale buggy on one of his Scorpions. I think they were off the mini Kyosho Infernos. I'm not 100% though. If you are interested I can make you a set of front shock mounts for her! Or I can send you a copy of the pattern and you can do them yourself. Just PM me! I have a rear aluminum gaurd I got off of Franco as well. It's not a JG, it's like someones old home made thingy but it's kind of cool! PM me !!I'll dig it out and get some pics of it!

That is looking pretty cool. You might have good luck getting the CRP axles from the big CRP seller on ebay.
Those JG rear guards are like gold. I have only been able to find one in all my hobby shop travels.

Hi Scott,
I have the CRP rear axles sets NIB, but they are in storage while I move house. Drop me a pm next week, when, (fingers crossed) I move into my new house and can rescue them from storage.
I have also seen a couple of the ally rear guards go on ebay and will let you know when I next spot one.
Love the looks of this car btw. Can't wait to see it finished.
Cheers
Ed

Re: My attempt at a Tomahawk build
Begging and pleaded? I wouldn't say that.
Ed, I have Woobie covered on the CRP Unis. I have them in a box here and promised myself I would dig them out this weekend.
Looks good Scott. BTW, it's a no go on that Front End. Don't you have one on your Super Duper Champ?
Hey liquior, wasn't it you who was selling the alum rear wings? Still available?

Aw, come on Jay, I may have exaggerated, but was just being my typical mellow dramatic self, lol.
Yeah, I do indeed have that front end kit on the SD Champ, but am kinda fond of it.........I would just take it apart, and use the mounts as templates, but if Liquorboxracing has some for sale, would much rather go that route.
Thanks again guys, for the words, help, trades.......
