Turbo Optima Mid-SE
here's an oldie,I've had this car since the 80's,it was the owners' car of an LHS I worked at when I was a........ younger He used to run this on carpet oval w/ foams. The body, wing and orig' tires are long gone, but I still have the Platinum shocks for it. the car is full bearing'd and still real smooth. The previous owner made a few un-neccessary holes in the chassis, but still in real good shape.thought I'd share.

I got about every piece for this car twice, except the arms.
Kyosho's TF1 (tourer) was almost a copy , with shorter arms and shocks.
Still doubting wether to put it back together as a buggy with Lazer arms or tourer myself. I like buggies, bu there's no offroad scene around here
Now some parts are mounted a bit odd on yours, and I doubt it's an SE version. Looks like a standard MID with the anodized alu chassis to be honest.
But hey don't let it spoil your fun, it's still a real nice car you got there!
Where did you get that slipper from? seems to use shumi gears, is that right?

Mr. Ed,talk to me sir, inquiring minds would like to know. Which parts are wrong aside of the steering bellcranks and the shocks of course? Not too positive, was a long time ago .............some brain-fade has occured in the last 20 or so I do recall the body and wing, decals etc.and the stock tires were some sort of pin/spikes.Pics would be very kool.Thanks.
As for the slipper,it has friction pads that ride within the spur, and spring washers between the nut and outer ring.
Hope this helps.

mm.the steering belcranks you knew, ok
(I think they're actuall y just flipped around, so that should be easy to fix)
The shocks?
The standard mid came with gold shocks actually. The platinum shocks I only remeber ever seeing on the Turbo Ultima. But hey that's just my memory, not based on any research.
The little plate opposite of the motorplate is indeed the most remarkable.
I don't remeber anything poking up there.
I tried a quick search for the little plate I have (as came with the TF 1 spider) but to no luck.
darryn, one of the members here has a couple of boxes in his gallery:

He has no turbo mid SE however
so here're some pics of one:

RetroR/C ,enlighten me just a bit,if you would.Tell me what I have in the pics, other than a couple boo-booz?? The car came out of the box as T.O. Mid-SE.The car came with the Platinum shocks, and sway-bars also.It has the aluminum chassis, and the upper deck, shock towers and sway-bar mnts. are F/G.I just came from ebay, and looked at other versions of this car, there were many variations of this car, pricey ones too. Also, the brace across from the trans,is for a mech. type speed control, correct?? Any comments or feedback would be appreciated.Thanks.

Dan, in my mind it is a Turbo Optima with gold Option House shocks, but could be wrong...

Seriously; your collection is one of the first I came accross when I recently started looking up on older buggies ,and it's a reference everywhere.
(admitted, it hurts me to see you're leaving all that nice stuff unused in the box, but that's your choice ofcourse)
Do you have a shadow: for some reason this seems to be either not desired or pretty rare? I only ever saw one back in the days, and it's not in the pics of your collection...
I completely forgot about it till I stumbled over pics of a guy asking what he had.
Do you know where to find some more pics of it?

Nice find there. Definitely a Turbo Mid SE there that someone has added the gold shocks.
SE spec was an upgraded Turbo Mid, so it has the Turbo Mid parts, countersunk ally chassis, anti roll bars and black fibre shock mounts.
The extra SE parts are ball diffs, platinum shocks, plated wheels instead of white, a mechanical speed controller and a LeMans 240ST motor.
