Masami WCS 93 replica (43 month update) 11/2013 NIP chassis

Post by Charlie don't surf »

I acquired this 94' Dogfighter from PBR Allstar and thought I would take a different approach than he did on it ( although he himself did a great job bringing it back to life)-

    Hey all,
    to Charlie don't surf,
Masami not only drilled the arms, but the front and rear bulkheads as well.
There are actually plenty of differences with the '94 Dogfighter. You probably know them. The rear end is obviously different. You might be able to come around that though, but the chassis itself has a different shape.

I do own one of the original WCS made for the '93 Worlds in Basildon. A couple of years ago I started to collect stickers to do a Masami replica as well  . Got most of them, but still missing a few unfortunately.
The one thing that I am really missing are the pink wheels with the 8 ribs stiffener on the outside.
The later '94 Dogs and the Pavidis Edition came with those 8 ribs wheels in black. I found white ones on eBay, but never got the chance to find pink ones.
I can't really see on the picture you posted whether those are the old original flat dish pink wheels or the WCS 8 ribs type?
Anyway, if someone reads this and has those wheels, please send a PM

to Kenooze, send me PM if you have a particular request

Update for this project, I spent some time today cleaning up my shop so I could look for some parts for other members. But since I had some table space after the cleaning I thought that I might get some work done

I made the steering brace from black g-10 and the steering rack from fiberglass like Masami's actual car
    100 Yoko 001.jpg
and also change the RCPS links to shorter ones ( because of the steering rack ) and changed to black ball cups as his car was
    100 Yoko 002.jpg
I also went ahead and put a few of the correct stickers on the correct wing ( I still need to find the purple Novak's and the KO Propo's :| )
    100 Yoko 003.jpg
Then painstakingly cut up the pink wheel dots, and placed them in the recesses ( 8 ) of each wheel--I could only do 2 wheels before going nuts :?
    100 Yoko 004.jpg

I have still to find a few things, namely the TCS shaft and backplate- but so far it's been a fun build

Very nice car. Anyone know why Masami had a steering rack on the car?? Reduce bump steer? or just to make it complicated?

The only thing that this rack does to this car ( bump steer and didn't change ) is speed up the initial steering movement because of a little mechanical advantage from the "swing" of this particular rack-Seeing how he always overpowered his servos to get more speed anyway-the increased speed is my best guess
    100 Yoko 005.jpg
More progress  I found the right Trinity Ti screws for a few places, and I cut down the front shock tower eliminating the outer holes in the production front tower
    100 Yoko 007.jpg

And also spent another hour :| cutting and placing the wheel dots on the left side wheels
    100 Yoko 006.jpg
So one other major thing that I need to do is aquire ( you know who you are   ) a NIP rear Mag bulkhead and cap and fabricate the rear end that masami had

And----send the correct body to Doug Carter for a Masami/Takitani paint treatment
