Various bits for my projects,
Really didn't like the battery set up for LiPo cells on the Optima, and Rocky, so bought these clamps to try, much more secure and well made.
Also a slightly different bell crank for my belt drive rocky conversion,...
So I've often wondered what YFS was on some button and flat head 4-40 screws that I've seen over the years, but I haven't bothered to look it up until now. Apparently YFS stands for Fang Sheng Screw Co. (Taiwan). They've been around since 1979....

Great info! I have seen these screws all over my Losi Jrx2 - ProSE cars. I make sure I use them for a proper restoration. Never had one snap and Taiwan does not equal cheap Chinese..
Are you implying that (some) vintage Losi used YFS screws? Did...
So I found the lengths that will work. And I know the threads are 4-40 type. I can't seem to find the diameter anywhere. And pardon my ignorance if the diameter is implied with the 4-40 thread type designator. Will they fit the Gen I Traxxas rod...

The retro turnbuckles start with a 1/8 rod that is turned/rolled with #4-40 threads on the ends. As shown above just under 3mm
Planning my future retirement home and go figure popular retirement guides talk about weather, taxes, politics, hospitals. Who cares :D What I want to know is how many viable and active tracks are close to you? I am drawing a limit at one hour...

There is an 1/8th scale track locally but no 1/10th scale for at least 3 hours. 702 Raceway closed at the beginning of July out of the blue so we're kinda stuck.
So common. I've often thought the big companies need to pool together on this...
It feels like I am making this issue more difficult than it needs to be, but here goes:
What size are the ballstuds on an RC10 Worlds Car?
- I think I figured out they are 3.85 cm ?
- In order to fit original ballcups / or replacement RPM #73372...
As the title states, I am searching for good usable shacks, preferably with a double o-ring seal. I believe the discontinued Trackstar shocks I got from Hobby King a few years back actually have 2 o-rings in their bottom loades setup, but will have...

All the wide arm cars like the world's, team car, graphite and championship edition used the .71 front shocks and the narrow arm cars had .56.
So I have been buying off ebay for almost 20 years now and recently have noticed people listing rc parts intentionally leaving damage out of the ad and when you question it the blame is always placed on the buyer. Just not cool all together
Last post
If its mentioned in the ad than fine. But 99 out of 100 times this is not the case. You have a good point if you just want a part to use for 3d printing or reproduction. As for the prior comment of a shelf queen being a rc that glued together parts...
So I have been eyeing a certain Tamiya re-release since about a year now, while also nervously observing the continued availability of Kyosho reissues (Tomahawk and Javelin mostly...don't need Optima Mids and there isn't a Lazer reissue yet) and...

In this case the car isn't even intended to be a racer. The CC-01 is Tamiya's 1990s chassis for their Jeep Cherokee, Pajero, etc. vehicles, and still gets rereleased to this day with new bodies. It's basically a proto-crawler chassis with...
Hey guys, first time posting here. I have come across my old RC stuff and would love to know if any of it is worth anything. I have a 1988 RC 10 gold tub, parts and original owners manual. I moved from off road to NASCAR style and built the RC 10L...
Last post
The rc10 would best be posted on the buggy forum and the rc10L is best posted in the onroad forum.
I have this old RC10T which I inherited when my best man passed away almost 10 years ago. His parents thought I should have it, since I brought him into RC.
Anyway, I’m thinking about making this one a shelter with...

I understand where you’re going with your suggestions, I still remember the whole painting fiasco from 20+ years ago. He painted from the inside blue and yellow, it was a total mess, so he covered it from the outside in matte black.
For those interested in the engineering and history aspects of the RC industry. Which vehicles were the first to pioneer and introduce various technologies in the RC industry? Perhaps we can limit this thread to mechanical advancements (as opposed...
Last post
Not 100% sure there were any firsts on the RC10 other than putting it all together in one car ,possible exception was having a remote diff .
I don't know if any of the technology was a first. However, I don't think anyone would disagree that it...
I am a diehard vintage tamiya buggy fan. I actually think these new cars might be pretty decent rigs. I wont buy one but i kinda like them for some reason. It may be the booze tho.
I recently acquired an old car that the seller says it used to race at this track in the 90's. Is there any of you out there that has any information, photos or articles about that place? It sounded like a pretty neat track from what I heard.
Last post
I don't know about the car but someone did a good job on the Mark Martin body. Last time I was at a Nascar race (a long time ago), he was still using that color scheme.
Yep, I may add some small sponsor decals behind front wheel arches and some...
Does anyone have a professionally made rc10/rc10t carbon fiber tub chassis they can take close up pictures of?
I'm trying to see of there are fabric joins in the corner of the chassis or if the shape was slightly altered on the front, back and the...

Thanks for the detailed picture. That's what I thought. There isn't enough material on the outside of the mounting holes. The mounts should have been deeper in the chassis.
Looking into the future, what do you think will be the future innovations in RC racing? This might be mechanical, material science, electronics related, or something completely different like virtual reality.
In terms of the cars or buggies I was...

I already see 3d printing as the affordable future of Vintage RC Racing , as parts become scarce they become expensive and race cars become shelf queen's , 3d printed parts can put them back on track where they were designed to be .
I have been looking for a safer way to store and display a few of my builds and have had a sneaky search for Oakley display cabinets going on in the background for a while now. We have three young kids, two of which are under 5 so they do tend to...
These look like they would thread into 4-40 threaded nylon and fit the current 5.5mm current associated ball cups. Or are these 4.3 mm ball studs with a 5.5mm long 4-40 thread
Last post
It says 5.5mm long. I'd assume that's thread length.
I have been tracking down a rare part, and so far I have only found one in Taiwan, in a shop that lists only Taiwan as a shipping option. I have tried contacting them through their site, but no response. So,...
Brought the big boy out today for a bit. First real time getting the 1/5 scale out this spring but was cut short by a blown bevel gear in the diff, knew it was going bad so have to swap a new one in now. If you notice the leaning spruce tree near...

It actually did knock some of the dirt off the top of the ramp, so gonna have to add some more and pack it down better for this truck.
Well just pulled the diff/axles out of the rear, I'm gonna say that bevel gear probably needs to be replaced
I located some discontinued parts I want in a Mississauga, ON store. They are small enough to fit in a flat envelope and would weigh similar to a greeting card. Shipping to me in US was quoted as $45 which is triple the cost of the parts. For...

Ahh not the place I was thinking of. Udisco was the one I used before. You had to send them a list like mail order days and they would process it and bill you for the total including shipping without telling you how much the shipping was. Weird...
This mold had been sitting at the injection mold shop since April 1991. Originally there was a one million pull guarantee so long as the mold lived at the shop. We never hit that so it was technically still under warranty. Unfortunately the...

I’m not done trying, they moved the shop it was in a few times and I’m sure the mold is still there- somewhere. Based on the dust and lack of markings outside the box on the steering mold I bet the wheel and lethal weapon molds are at the bottom of...
I am almost embarrassed to say I never knew of Nick's contributions to RC over the years but growing up U.S. based and pre-Internet I had never heard of him.

Trivia #1: What is the first reversible, mid-motor 2WD 1/10 scale off-road RC buggy race kit?
Last post
It’s kinda open ended so I wasn’t sure what he was going for. I mean, you could easily flip the 6 gear trans but there was cutting and modifications to do also. The mrp was I believe marketed as flippable and should be ‘85-‘86 era
I recently picked up what for me for a long time in my youth was the motor of dreams , the Tamiya (Mahuchi) RS-540SD Black Motor Sprint :!: Every Tamiya build manual had them in as THE upgrade motor , long before I started buying Radio Race Car or...

I've gotten it into my head that I want something for some pavement bashing that handles best on pavement.
I originally wanted a pan car, but the pavement I have access to is broken.
It looks like LOTS have happened for the in-between buggies and...
Since I was switching out the outdrives in my RC10T4 FT from the regular units to the lightweight outdrives, I decided to weigh the three different AE outdrive options that were for the various versions of the B4, T4, SC10 and GT2.

My $800 cheapie Chinese 3040t got me started but those little ones with a 540 motor aren’t going to be very accurate and with carbon it’s tough enough as it is.
BITD there were all these conversions for buggys to on-road and LTOs. I don't think that ROAR and IFMAR changed their max width rules, but the JRx2s and RC10s, must not have been quite as wide as today's buggies. Those Jammer and Hyperdrive...

They must be wider than the b4 series since they fit under custom works oval bodies.
I have this wasted attic space that's at least 12 feet x 32 feet, which could be maximized to 40 feet with some creativity. The attic has been insulated so it's not super hot in the summer. It feels like if could have all the makings of an indoor RC...

I think the chassis may have chosen me.
So, 1:10, cheap, lightweight, 2wd, readily available, touring car. I found a chassis that is 5 out of those 6, and best part is that it was free as I already owned it.
For a vintage RC10 that I could run or even shelf, I think that the Jconcepts Rips and Double Dees look like a good alternative.
The Hazard wheels are fairly ugly in my opinion, so not for me.

Has anyone found any adhesives that seem to make a good bond with nylon? I sometimes have parts with holes I would like to have with a tighter fit without using oversized fasteners. I haven't tried JB Weld or Plastic Welder yet, but would like to...

I don't have experience with using this stuff on nylon, but i was the only thing I could get to bond an old plastic TRC Stealth antenna that was broken in two. I tried a few glues and two-part epoxies, but nothing worked except the Plastic Bonder.

It makes a nice mid motored, laydown gearbox style setup. The blue aluminum chassis is also very sturdy.
