"Hong Kong style" on-road buggies

in the era around 90's .............on-road buggies were very popular in Hong Kong ..........simply because of the lack of off-road tracks .........& also the easy cleaning up of the car after playing..........

found some photos in a local R/C forum about Hong Kong style on-road buggies ............. hope you all enjoy..........

as you can see in the third picture..........the red Turbo Optima got a HK style modification.........the "mid motor" Turbo Optima.............which was designed by GPM (still a small HK local hobby shop at that time)............the motor was hanging high above the upper deck...........

Did these cars use the standard suspension arms, or were they narrower?

I have a fibre lyte YZ10 conversion on roader gathering dust, cant wait to get it back on the road!

all are the same as the standard kit spec.........only using thicker shock oil...........shortened the shock travel.........using foam tyres...........that is.........

the handling was excellent..........with minimal maintainence .........

maybe we can call it "RAT" (Racing All Terrain)............

I wrote that i liked the (optima mid custom special) the most "AFTER" the optima pro.

I sold my kyosho collection a couple off years ago , ill regret it ever since.
The only kyosho i ever raced was the Lazer ZX , it was a great car.

yes......... I do like kyosho cars more than that of Tamiya..........

at least the plastic material is far better when compared with those Tamiya ABS plastic..............more durable after prolonged storage.........

You have to see it to believe how nice those Hong-Kong style on-road buggies worked. I saw a few of those races, with enough modification, even a Mugen bulldog managed to top qualify a few races using a trinity motor. It was also rumoured that Yokomo got the idea from those on-road buggies and touring car came after.
