question on pricing things

ok, i know im not suppose to ask what items are worth but what do you do if you have things you never see on ebay to get an idea what there worth? I know i can put them on ebay and let the market decide a price but id rather have you guys have a shot at some things first. like thousands of others i lost my job 2 weeks ago and could use the money, im not looking to get rich but just want a fair price.
