Wow That makes me remember when I bought my first RC10 new in the Box back in 1989. so fresh but I took it out of the box, fired up the stove and dyed all of the white parts built it with a lowering kit with Bolink foams stuck on a 50 Merc body and went racing. I loved that car. but the Losi wore me out every week so I bought it from him still have it 20years later. I wish I would have kept the RC10 :(

Edinger was the street address of AE when the 1st series RC10 came out and the A is the tub stamp for the 1st edition although production was shifted to the Cadillace St address sometime in the late 80's.

I would remove the tape.
The "A" stamp is the first run of chassis' but the very early Edinger "A" chassis' were anodized in a lighter pale gold.
I asked if it was stamped because I have heard people talk about some un-stamped early chassis'
Incredible find - the story we want to know is how did you find it???
Please preserve your museum piece!

so here's the story:

so i have a friend who was into rc along time ago, and his dad was too,
so i asked his dad one day if he had any old rc stuff laying around he wanted to get rid of.
he said "i have an old car that i never used nor completed assembling,
that is sill in the box" so when he showed up with the box, my jaw hit the floor.....
yea ill take it!!! and this is what i got..... including the stuff from this post, too:

Nice find, I have a similar one in same shape but mine doesn't have the fiberglass battery straps which I plan to make myself. By the way, the tape on the tranny is totally correct and was included in the kit. The manual even has a picture I think with how to install it... I would leave it...

That foam tape is 100% accurate-- it is right in the instructions.
I would not take it off unless you have to rebuild the transmission. It was supposed to keep the dirt out-- all my 6 gears had it. 8)

Edit... oops, what Asso_man! said.
