my new free bolink

I got this car a few weeks ago for FREE! I know its a Bolink, I believe an eliminator sport. I know there's one or two Bolink buffs on here so feel free to clue me in. I think I'm just going to clean it up, put some decent tires on it, some bearings since it will only cost me about $8. I need some new steering blocks for the front and lastly a period correct stock car or gtp body. I might run it at the carpet track once or twice for fun then put it up on the shelf unless someone wants it, I was never really into pan cars.
Does anything go in this vertical tube in the rear for damping?

Normally the post and tube in the back has a spring in it but it looks like someone put a rc10l shock on it. And yes it is a eliminator sport and yes i would be interested i will send a pm.
