Quik King Cab Story...
So this Tamiya King Cab was painted 2 years ago when I first started my hunt for them. It was actually my very first find, but unfortunately, the body was painted and backed with black, which turned the supposed bright red into this dark burgundyish color. Being highly upset, I chucked the body in the closet and told myself I would just sell it later down the line or something. Fast forward today, I purchased an RC lot, which came with some extras stuff being a set of these dark colored wheels. My first thought was I don't need them but then I thought about that body and would you know it was a perfect match so I gathered up some extra parts and chassis I had lying around and this is the results. I think it looks pretty good

That's no body to hide in the closet
. Even with the red not exactly like the original, still better than most of the damaged and cracked body's around.

Can confirm. The body on my King Cab is all cracked and broken. I forget exactly what the story is but I believe Tamiya used too thin of lexan on the originals.

I own 7 king cabs and building another one now. I'm extremely picky when it comes to something being done right. Plus Throwing a body in the closest isn't a big deal I actually forgot I had it

Re: Quik King Cab Story...
Since they were painted originally, it's possible that someone just painted them again.
I have a set of Hi-Lux wheels that had been painted several times. I stripped it all off and painted them in gunmetal.

Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Yep. I remember Tamiya had such an issue with those square corners on this body. I suppose their vacuum forming was set too high and these corners would be super-thin and brittle.

WOW I love your collection, that yellow paint job looks like it comes from an article in RCCA. Man do I miss the old days, I hope Tamiya does a reissue. I have the Toyota too. Beautiful trucks.
