Custom Works Dominator IV... questions and variations...
There has been a bit of recent resurgence of Dominator IV cars on eBay and it got me to thinking...
1. All the early ads for the Dominator in ~'89 had yellow plastic. I've never seen single yellow spare parts, so I assume the car used in the ad was just dyed yellow?
2. Some early cars I've seen the plastic parts are like a pure white, while some are almost a translucent white. Is this an artifact of the photos possibly? Or were there potentially different early runs of parts? Different brands of nylon inject differently, plus one batch might have had white dye added?
3. Were there different chassis variations early on?
This chassis version with the longer thinner nerf bar is what you see on every advertisement from back in the day.
This chassis version with the extra battery slots and smaller nerf bar I cannot find in any advertisement. However this chassis appears to be the same chassis on the SRP-1. However the plastics and mechanicals are inherently Custom Works. What gives?

Quick update...
I found a price list dated 10-22-90:
1001 - GRAPHITE 'ROAD' CHASSIS
1005 - GRAPHITE 'OVAL' CHASSIS
1006 - NERF BAR SET
Curious of the SRP-1-like chassis is the 'ROAD' chassis and the other is the 'OVAL' chassis. Haven't found any pics yet...

I have a chassis like the full version you have. I believe it to be an early design, at least that is what I was told.
However, your ad is intriguing. Maybe it's actually a 'road course' chassis. Of course it may also have been planned, and was not very common, leading it to be an early version, then cancelled.

The Dec '87 RCCA review of the Dominator mentions the right side slots. Also, unless we're talking about different yellow wheels, I thought the early Dominators used Yoke 834b wheels.
