Guys, in the hunt for a DS. What is the simplest setup for electronics? I want to drive it but want to shelf it as well.
I have a bid on an eBay DS, but it has no body.
Really basic question how do you mount one to the chassis? I am thinking a Camaro body or something.
Thanks guys.
Max

Re: RC10 DS
Hi Max,
Great Choice! Good luck! The DS is a great car!!! Awesome Car!!! Fantastic Car!!! and yes, Im Biased
Im particularly fond of the Nitro DS but i do have a electrics as well.
For electronics ive equipped them both with modern setups like a Castle Creations Sidewinder brushless motor and ESC, and old school brushed setups like Stock DS brushed motor paired to a Novak ESC with reverse. Both work nice but i prefer brushless for the least amount of maintenance.
If you are looking for more performance i suggest you check out KidAgain's threads. He has taken the electric DS to new performance levels and creates(and sells) custom parts for the DS. He also has a mid engine conversion setup. check it out.
"...how do you mount one to the chassis?" If your car has front and rear body mount posts you can just purchase a body, measure and drill the holes. i suggest drillong the mountings holes first before painting body to get best results.
HPI 68 or 69 Camaro is great body for the DS. The Kyosho Camaro works as well and has crazy detail with chrome bumpers, Wipers and side view mirrors (its also pricier).
HPI 68 Camaro

HPI 69 Camaro

Kyosho 69 Camaro

HPI 70 Barracuda

HPI Pantera Body

Castle Creations equipped DS without and with HPI 69 Camaro body

Hope that helps and dont forgot to post photos if you win the DS on Ebay.
