T4 dogbone source?
T4 dogbone source?
I have 2 T4 RTRs, and it seems that the inner ball stud on the rear camber link will loosen up over time and if I don't check them often enough snap off and send the dogbone flying somewhere. The last time it happned I could not find it, and it looks like everything else from AE they are long discontinued. Are there any sources for a replacement other than watching Ebay for a $100 set of CVDs?

Re: T4 dogbone source?
not sure where you are with the aesthetics of your t4 but paint the new ones a florescent color or some guys tape them with a bright color tape(don't use green) so when they pop out they are easier to find. Can't help with the dogbones though. Last time dogbones were an issue with me I did this and found more than I lost
Todd
also just did a quick t4 dogbone search on ebay and it came up with several cheaper solutions to your issue. Even one set painted green

Re: T4 dogbone source?
As a preventative measure, either find a ball stud with longer threads so you can use a low profile locknut on the underside of the brace. You'll have to remove a bit of material from the underside of the brace likely but it'll stop that stud from working loose. You could also look for an aluminum brace instead, but be sure you use a washer on the shank of the stud because there's a small shoulder just under the hex of the stud that will prevent the stud from threading all the way into metal.

Re: T4 dogbone source?
About the ball stud loosening up, is it the threaded section loosening?
If you are still using 4-40 thread studs, you can switch to ones with a 3mm thread (4.3mm ball). It is slightly larger and will cut fresh threads in the nylon. Also consider adding some CA to the threads.
If the ball cups are worn and popping off, you may need to replace them, or perhaps consider a captured ball link.

Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
Re: T4 dogbone source?
It's the threads coming loose from the inner mount and breaking off of the rest of the stud that causes the problem. I put Lunsford ball studs in one of them and haven't broken another one though. I have several of the inner mount so replacing them with ones with better threads is certainly an option. I'm not really particularly attached to continuing to maintain these other than already having them vs buying something newer, so I am not sure $75 sounds worthwhile to fix it with the amount of other hard to find parts there are. Is #7462 the only part number that works for the dogbone? It looks like #7361 is readily available but I think they are too short right?

We used to use long Yokomo ball studs where you could put a nut on the undeside of the brace.
