Post by Tadracket »

Anyone joined the RCCA members only site?

Looks interesting but I got to bank some bucks before I join.

If they had an archive of all back issues online...maybe.

Will that be with or without the 40 pages of advertising before and after the three paragraph article?

Part of the awesomeness of the old mags is the advertising. I'm sure there will not be any of that.

From a collectors stand point I can understand that, but in the eye of the guy who just wants to read about RC's, maybe learn something from the occasional article, well, all that wasted space was a little more than annoying.

Just a different perspective

Got the email but I ain't interested. Apart from having an extensive set of late 80s/early 90s RCCAs there's no examples of what will be available for my money, just the sort of ad that makes me close the window instead of spending money.

The 20 years of articles are interesting, but most of them are already archived on http://www.findarticles.com albeit without the pictures (and the adverts! :D )

I was hoping that someone had a listing of the contents of each RCCA magazine. I've got most of the 87-92 issues (with duplicates), but I don't want to go through each just to catalog everything.

does anyone know if this information is posted anywhere?

regards,
highwayracer

I was going to say that, but it's been a very long time since I've picked up an RC mag.

Guys,

Just logged in and found out that they do have every magazine, page for page available in downloadable .pdf format.

To me this is great, since the last time I moved, someone stole a couple of boxes from my driveway and in those boxes were every mag from 87 on (a few missing while I was in college). Bet that person was either really excited, or really pissed off for having carried those freaking heavy boxes and only got toy car magazines.

I too have a collection of early 90s mags in the parents attic.

I work for a printer company, and considered going thru them and finding the articles worth scanning for the SCANS archive.

as if this would ever happen, but......................

it would be cool if rcca would re-issue the mags starting from the beginning. just like a normal subscription.

it would be cool, and I would probably pay it,

after quick calculations here where it would net out:

as individual issues @5.99 (call it 6 bucks each) from 87 on is approximately 252 issues and whopping grand total of $1512.00 (not gonna pay it)

even at a subscription rate of 44.90 for 24 issuse it still works out to be $471.45. (would pay it).

I loved looking through the old ones, and seeing the names and pictures of racers/people I now work with professionally.
