Hi,
I decided to resurrect my old zxr mk2. When I switch it on the light on the speed controller is solid red. The servo works fine but the motor respond to the transmitter.

The manual says to move the receiver cable to another socket. When I try this the motor spins up fine with the left/right on the transmitter. When I move the receiver cable back to battery, the motor starts and just stays on. Where is the problem here? Thanks :)

Esc needs to plug into channel 2 not battery. Once in channel 2, thats when you will need to make your adjustments.

If you plug the steering servo into channel 2 does it work with the trigger?

But yes,
Steering Ch. 1
Throttle Ch. 2

Hey, yeah if I plug it into channel 2 the motor spins up and is controllable, but only backward! Pushing the receiver control forward only seems to brake.

You need to flip the servo reversing switch on the transmitter. Then you will also need to flip the motor wires if it runs in reverse (make sure if you have a diode attached it is properly oriented!!!). That speed control doesn’t have reverse, only forward and brake.

Yeah it all looks like it's wired correctly. It's soldered and hasn't been changed since I last used it.... Is it possible something else is going on?

The only way the motor can spin backwards is if you removed and spun the end bell 180 degrees, or if you changed its direction mechanically- like in a vehicle with bevel gear diff installed backwards or a mid motor conversion

I'm thinking the servo reversing switch has been flipped on the transmitter like mentioned earlier.

Hi yeah the servo switch does mean that pushing the control forward accelerates...but backwards. I took a pic of the motor. how can i upload it?

Yes, servo reversing switch "reverses" the function. So try flicking the Ch. 2 switch on the remote.

If the trigger was 50/50 then reversing then the esc would operate normally just backwards, a 70/30 trigger would run on like you described.
