Checkpoint motor spares question
Hi checkpoint motor fans,
I remember someone mentioned you could still get the brushes and springs from slot car makers, I think.
Can someone direct me to the correct ones as the site search isn't helping. Or if someone could tell me how to search the site with google that'd also be great.
Cheers
Ed

Well the google search was no help though I did work out how to do it in the future, but I am definate someone mentioned some g type brushes (or something I don't know slot cars) and springs would work.
Does that not jog anyones memory?

Would you part with a couple of pairs? I have got a couple of motors with no springs or brushes you see.shodog wrote:I have tons of springs for them but I don't think I have any brushes
I hope others look at this as I am sure (100%) someone mentioned some slot brushes worked...

Re: Checkpoint motor spares question
This was a direct quote from Big Jim (apologies for the less than PC comment):
"Those small, slot-car size brushes were also superior to what was available in the Jap motors. That material was so crappy a racer had to change the brushes every 1-2 runs because they glazed so bad. The smaller brushes wore away the glaze and lasted as many as 25 runs before replacement was needed., unheard of in that day. One can still find suitable brushes for any Platinum motor at a slot-car hobby shop. It's a standard 36D size."
I haven't had much luck finding "standard" size 36D brushes with shunts on them, but there are vintage slot car sites out there that sell everything under the sun. Trinity and Revtech both sold the smaller brushes, too. Sometimes they pop up on eBay as regular brushes.

Re: Checkpoint motor spares question
on slot car motors, the shunts were placed between the brush and the spring. i've never seen a slot car brush with a shunt before.

Yep that's ringing my bell, though I thought whoever mentioned them said they were freely available, I'll search the web when I have time. BTW what are shunts?Eau Rouge wrote:"standard" size 36D brushes with shunts on them
I will have to check at home and see, because I don't know off by heart, but they sure look the same, do you have some spare?scr8p wrote: i don't have any checkpoints, so is is this the size brush your looking for? standard rc bruch on right for size comparison.
PM me when you have time or should I email? How many do you have as like I mentioned I need at least a couple. Did you get my email the other day about MIP bits? Can we do our other deal on ebay because I got a money off voucher the other day! Woot!RETRO R/C wrote:I have some NIP checkpoint brushes!!

I'll pm you from now on if the emails aren't getting through, BTW you know I have no 'net at weekends right?RETRO R/C wrote:Hey Doc - have emailed you a couple of times - no response???

Bill would you have any brushes I could purchase by any chance too? I went through my Checkpoints this weekend and realised I need more brushes than I thought
