RC10GT - Out of the closet

Post by RC10th »

Stupid GT's

I pulled this out the other day and rebuilt the engine in another thread as you've probably seen. It's almost too nice to run but there won't be any more GT's joining my family in the foreseeable future, so, back out this one comes.

It just needs a radio and I'm at a crossroad on what to use. Do I use a JR XR3, JR XS3 for a period feel or put it back on my Spektrum for its "safety" features? The truck is pretty well equipped and has two modern low profile servos installed.

It's a shame I gave away many radios when I moved to Australia, a Hitec Lynx 3D would have been perfect for a higher end period radio.

Beautiful GT! I run modern radios on all my runners with only a couple exceptions. I like the safe, glitch free, lightweight, multi-vehicle modern radios. I know some will say that using a vintage radio with a vintage rc gives it a more nostalgic feel, but I don't miss the days of 3' long antennas, crystal matching, glitching, heavy, clunky radios.

Thanks, AM radios would be out of the question, lol, I dont miss those days either.

I used to run a JR XR3 in my T2/GT days (couldn't afford the R1) and they were pretty solid, no glitching on FM and I never had a runaway.

Decisions decisions......
