Can nylon be painted

I can't find any good references on priming or painting nylon.
Has anyone had any luck or experience?
Tamiya had a special primer for polypropylene, nylon, FRP and other similar materials.
It seems to be discontinued.

I can’t speak for painting as I personally would never paint nylon, but I can speak for Rit Dyemore if it’s something you could dye. It works great.

It can be painted sure, good prep will help it stick, but if you run it on dirt/race it don't expect it to last. Like Jeff said dying it is the best solution

Thanks Zac_F71

Any tips? light sanding for mechanical bond ? Best primer?
I realize dyeing is a durable option. I've dyed many nylon parts for a long time.
I ordered JC racing wheels and may try to hydrodip them to match my paint.
Not for dirt or bashing. Shelf or possibly, possibly carpet.

It took me a bit, but I've gotten some fairly satisfactory results.
The first "dip" did not go well, so i had to strip and start over.
Basically I sanded, used adhesion promoter, dipped the wheels and cleared coated them.

That looks great! Looks like they were carved from blue marble. Should look great mounted on the car with similar body paint.

Thank you xlr8!
I really appreciate your kind words.
I guess a dipped car isn't everyones cup-of-tea but I really like the look.
Unfortunately I may not have the painting skillset that others on the forum possess.

Well, I certainly don't possess great painting skills but it's obvious that you have this hydro painting technique sorted out. So, obvious question; when will we see the completed car with these wheels?

Ive been slowly collecting parts, polishing old metal parts, anodizing aluminum and titanium, dyeing or redyeing parts.
It seems like every time I make a "complete" order I want twice as many more parts.
Guess it will never be finished.
It is sunny today and that is what my camera likes.
After I cut the grass...

Sorry for the late reply
The wheels are jcracingproducts wheels.
At least a few others here on the forum have used them. They are very nice 2.2 wheels that are a direct fit for 1/4" tapered axel rears and the fronts work with 3/8 x 3/16 front bearings.
The wheels will come either yellow or white. It takes a couple of weeks to get them from England.
