Hi guys.

The menu for coming weeks is a Cougars salad

First you must retrieve all the ingredients, a early cougar with some touches of Topcat and a second one in kit.










After you shall very well clean it and cook it in boiled water some minutes. Be careful not too long !



After you dry it





Then you serve it layed on a big wooden platform with some sand paper sheets and a bowl of water !

When it is done you spend a lot of time paper-sanding then polishing it







After you have polished it until you can see your tired face in, you scratch the surface to have the same "brushed" finish as the original one

then for the dessert you shall assemble it...

Polishing always gets my attention...that chassis tub is looking fantastic! I have mostly Kyosho cars, with the exception of a nice little AE RC12L3, but if there's one car I'd like to build, it's one of these Schumachers. Looking forward to the rest of your resto!

Tha advantage with aluminum is you can "repair" most of track damages. Not all because deep scratches are remaining but most of them

Kyoshos and RC12 are great cars also!

I give you a status on the progress of my cooking

The nose gear assembled



The transmission case with teethed belt inside.

This tranny was one the best, silenth smooth ands with very high efficiency. We were looking at the last electrons in the packs at this time




Rear suspension and tranny installed. It starts to look like the pure racer it was

I've experience only with the 4wd Schumacher CAT. Looking at your builds, it's interesting to see just how many parts are shared between the 2 and 4wd cars.
Anyway, your cars are coming along nicely.

Hello.

The shelfer is finished. I had troubles to instal wheel ball bearings on the shaft because the inner ring was a little to small.
I installed them with a tool made of a long screw, nut and washer to allow a smooth slippery.

I had no authorized additionnal budget by my home financial minister for a new wing so I repaired the original one the best I could, hidding scratches under yellow and red adhesive fims.

As it is finished now I am really convinced that it is a Topcat converted with Cougar front suspension plus a Cougar body decorated with remaining stickers from the original Topcat kit.
That's also why it came with the original Topcat manual.

On the few I did, it was the longest and most difficult build I did for the moment.
But maybe for that I am very hapy with it.








The runner is stopped for the moment because I don't want to install the original rear shock tower but I want to do one in aluminum or graphite.

It will allow also to install a wing support strongest than the original.

Your completed shelfer is awesome! If I hadn't read your entire post, I would have assumed the car was NIB. Very clean and carefully assembled. Nice!
I also like to build two of every car I collect; one shelfer and one runner.

Thanks mate. No it isn't nib unfortunately. You could see that very easly with the car in your hands.
The pictures are always more gorgeous than the hard reality
I will soon change the front plate for a new one but the lower faces of the arms are still witnesses of its previous life.

Front arms are still around if you look for them .

But what I want to know is where you found the front rib tyres

You mean they are available in the Schumacher site ?
I will have a look but I didn't find them during the rebuild.

I bought the tires from a guy here. They are vintage not new.

yes Schumacher still has them in stock part number u774 and there are also many online stores that have them in stock still to. You can also use part number u2330 as the arms are the same but the hubs are different as they take a twin bearing setup. The hardest cougar arms to find are the cougar 2 arms part number u847 and those front ribs I can't find anywhere nip
