Not really my cup of tea. It's a full on plastic buggy and more on the entry level side of things. you can search the Tamiya club site and see a few in peoples showrooms. If you wanted to go with a vintage Kyosho, you should look for a Scorpion or Ultima

Raider was the Kyosho step down from the Ultima.

Mostly plastic, but as far as collectability goes,,,,, ?

I have 2 little boys, that are 5 and 6 years old. They are very curious of my cars. I have some incomplete Kyosho Raiders laying around that I have gotten with other ebay garage sale items. Was wondering if some people have the following items laying around. They do not have to be new. These will be backyard bashers. But anyhoo, the parts are as follows:

14 tooth, 32 pitch pinion
Counter gear from the (RD-11 Gear set)
RD-17 Swing shaft unless there is something else that is compatable
Rear chassis support from the (RD-01 Chassis set)
The antenna holder, switch cover from, and steering servo mounts (RD-04 Plastic parts )

Would it be better to get the original wheels, tires and radio gear for the Raider?? Maybe, I should get some newer applications intsead?? If I were to get newer tires and wheels, what would be some compatible options. Thanks any help would mean alot. :)

The newer Kyosho buggies have hex drive for the rear wheels. Probably fit, but offset might be a touch off. Fronts should work too, maybe need a different size bearing to make work. Avid has cheap ones if needed. These wheels for the newer Kyosho 2wd will of course allow use of newer 2.2" tires. The older 1.9" wheels/tires would be a bear to get a hold of.

If you need a set of orange rears, almost new condition, give me a pm. Got a set of NIB yellow fronts too.

I actually have some decals and bodies for the 2WD and Turbo Raider. Just need to get a couple of chassis from ebay for parts, get some up to date wheels to incorperate new tires. Throw on some duratrax speed controls and radios, so my little boys can have some bashers.

The new 2wd rims will not work on a raider; that is if you are referring to ultima rb5 ones.
The rb5 does not have bearings in the wheel like the raider. The bearings are in the steering knuckle.
