B3 Find/Refurb

Post by Tamlok »

Picked this up off of ebay, wanted another project car (already did a B2 for 17.5 racing). Going to leave this one a little more stock (no big bores). Still not sure if I want to go with a brushless setup or dust off the old Novak Tempest that I had in my B2 back in the day.

Looks like it's in a pretty good condition to start with. Luckily you scored the FT model.. I haven't seen one of those pop up for sale in a while.

Old parts cleaned up, new parts on hand, tranny rebuilt, ready to start re-assembly.

Got her mostly together. Need another blue steering turnbuckle (came with one odd non-blue), battery strap, and electronics.

That's not just a B2 with B3 front arms?

Rear arms are B2, front caster blocks and spindles are B2, etc.

like most b2/b3 cars, this might have been a b2 that got converted along the way.......

Very observant. I have to agree that it was a B2 that was converted. Wound up changing the rear arms and hubs to B3. I think I am going to get the correct B3 steering blocks, the ones on there have the wrong hinge pin, too long, and it is bothering me.

Finally got around to finishing her up. The car came with a Peak Racing Nightmare stock motor and the blue sticker color went with the factory team colored blue parts, so I went with the old school electronics. Only thing left to do is get a body painted.

Car did not come with a battery strap, saw this on sale at JConcepts.

Just cut the end off with a dremel and left a tail to slide into the rear shock tower.

Made a few changes to the build. Added a few more blue parts (shock caps, spring retainers), changed the battery strap (modified Exotek), Reedy MVP motor, and LRP electronics. Pretty satisfied with it, for now...
