Boxart wing buttons, but much bigger

I got a set of boxart wing buttons, which list 2 part#'s on the instructions, one for small wire and one for larger wier. I googled the part# on the instructions for the large wire and found some online so ordered a few expecting them to have a larger diameter hole for the wing wire.
The entire wing button is much bigger.
Does anyone know what thes would be used on? 1/8 cars like the rc 300 or rc500 maybe?
They would probably look silly on a 1/10

I'd have to say 1/8 or maybe 1/4 scale. Good info to know about the different sizes.
