early KO Racing-Max RM-7 ESC

Found this early KO Racing-Max RM-7 ESC lately. It is the version with 2 cases but from what I have seen there was also a similar ESC with just the large case. Someone knows which one was earlier and what was the difference?

these things are so big, back then RC people in my place called it 'cow lungs' :)
