Explain chassis stamping?

Post by Badillac »

I've read a few posts here and there that refer to "chassis stamping". Are you referring to the letter on the goldpan under where the motor would go? If so, what do the letters mean? I'm looking at one that has an "A".
RC's are like ****'s... everyone has one... some are just more torn up then others.

Think A is a 6 gear chassis with no stealth mounting holes, B is gold chassis with stealth holes?

temple would probably be the best one to chime in on this subject. between the no stamp, A stamp, AB stamp, B stamp, C stamp, countersunk, not countersunk, black, gold, etc, i think he'd give the best break down.

Yeah, temple is the man when it comes to this......... Chassis stamping and chassis hole positions/countersunk holes are one of those things that'll drive you crazy if you're trying to do a perfect resto or build that perfect shelfer.
Old school racing all the way!

For the time being searching posts is your best bet. I'm still working on the definitive chassis guide, it's not all that simple. There are quite a few crossover/partial production variants. I really want to get this project done...but I also am working out the 1/12th scale stuff. I'm not going anywhere near the 1/8th cars...maybe Jay will take that task on.

Plus I need to get on my own RC10/10T personal projects, which will allow me to take pictures of all the differences in chassis and component parts. I need to get a few eye-opening 10T's done before Erich, although that might not be a huge undertaking... *throws gauntlet*

Ugh.

No, I have not. There was a Proline (pre-protoform) body back in the mid 90's that I wanted for a buggy, but it's non-existent these days. :(

Dahm's used to make a truck/bug body. I think it was called "buggsy"
