The manual states that is can take up to 8.5 turn brushless. They do not recommend anything lower for the 6 gear tranny.

The problem with the 6 gear is that you have to crank the diff nut down pretty tight so that it won't slip. I can't imagine the diff living long with a 8.5T. If I remember right, the mod motors of the day were 18-20 turn brushed.

Hi,

I wish someone had told me, about the 8.5 turn brushless limit.

I have been running my 6 gear with black idlers and RCCA bearing mod using a 6.5 turn brushless

setup on GT spec foam tires on the indoor track at the local hobby shop, no traction compound

though.

Cheers, Dave. :)

I ran 10-13 turn motors all the time in a 6 gear...with 6 cell NiMh batteries. Dirt oval

I have ran a traxxas VXL motor in a 6 gear recently...thing was ballistic. Had the diff locked though like Ryan said.

Saw the reference to 8.5t as the fastest recommended motor in the manual. Thanks guys

The car is a rocket with 8.5t using the recommended pinion of 18t

well, if you had read the manual, it is there in print. This was just a recommendation, if you choose to exceed it then fine! Its not a rule. The gears are not meant to explode at a certain rpm. Im really sorry you feel let down, perhaps a message to Team Associated would be more appropriate though, since they are the ones issuing the recommendation
