Tamiya Unimog CC01

Guys,

I got this Unimog a couple months back, collected a couple upgrades before the build, and then started working on it during Christmas break.







I upgraded the motor mount, got the ball bearing steering kit, a 60T motor, and some better wheels and tires.

I think I want ot do a "Search & Rescue" theme, we'll se what it evolves into...

Also, If any of you have any parts or CC01 vehicles they want to part with, I'd be interested.

What I'd really like to find is a complete chassis with transmission and rear suspension only. I want to cut down the chassis, wide front arms, rear spacers, custom shock towers, long shocks, extended rear 4-link, etc.

I don't really want to buy another new one to hack up...

I have a well used jeep, it's not for sale but my point being that there are some weak parts that will be used up if you buy a used one.

Got a few more things done to the Unimog.



Sprayed some real bedliner spray on there, it turned out really cool





I've still got some finishing touches to do on the body. I want to get some white medical crosses and "EMERGENCY" decals for it too.

Nice truck, good luck with the steering. I finally gave up and hacked off the front of the chassis to make a normal front mounted servo.

Nice looking truck! Just make sure you use some Loctite on the aluminum steering set up and you shouldn't have any issues.

I'm surprised no one has created a PTO for one of these.

A few more things done today. The project is almost complete. I ordered a roof rack with a light bar for the top which should be here soon. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks sharp! Still love the old XC/CC-01 chassis. Tough, fun to drive, and with a few tweaks, can surprise you with its ability.

Well, I finely got the rack put on. I think she's done except for adding some scale goodies in the rack like a shovel, cooler, bed rolls, etc. and maybe a custom aluminum front bumper.

That tuned out really sweet looking. It needs a flashing light bar on top.

That looks awesome. I had a ride in a Unimog in Mexico a couple years ago, they are very cool vehicles. About the only thing I'd consider doing, and I'd only do it for scale-looking models, is to find a way to hide the wires & electronics inside the windows. I don't know if this model comes with a cockpit or driver figure, but if not, maybe even a flat piece of Lexan painted black on one side could be folded up and attached with a bit of Velcro and the wires tucked beneath it. Kinda nit-picky but I'd only make that suggestion for a scale model, not off-road buggies.
