Looking for some tire advice.

Post by K-TOWN-KITT »

I am putting some old pan cars together and I am having the usuall tire issues. The foam is dryrotted, cracked, chunks missing, etc. I went on febay and found that foams are like $25. a pair. Crazy! I have a big lot of new and used BSR and TRC capped and full radials for concrete ovals. If I can get the capped rubber off the foam will I basically just have a whatever dot foam tire? Like I said a lot of these tires are still new in the pack and some say up to $23. each. EACH! Do you guys know if there is still a market for these tires? I would hate to tear them up then find out I could of ebayed them for $40. a set.

Why not just try to trade them here on the forum? Not that I ever even peek at the B/S/T. Pure EVIL in there! Seems like a lot less trouble though.

You don't have to spend $25 a pair, and ebay is never the bet place to get the best deal.
Check out the prices here

The only problem will be if you want to keep the original wheels and just replace the tyres, as it's hard to find donuts these days. one of the few places that still sell them is http://www.windtunnelracingproducts.com/index.php?cPath=42_21

I got mine for $22 or $23 for a full set of mounted foams from RC4Less. I think there is a market for caps on ebay and they sell for $30-$40 a set.

Well I went ahead and tore up some tires. I cut and tore the caps off. Most of the glue came off with the caps exept on the sides but I got it off. I mounted them to the axle and hooked up a battery to the motor. Then I used a sanding block and trued them the best I could. Far from perfect but they are very useable and better than buying 4 sets for some runners I'm just going to run around in the house this winter. I appreciate the replys and the sites. Thank you.

Asiatees.com has a line of wheels & tires (pre-glued) for 1/12, 1/10 & 1/8 pan cars, from Xceed. The wheels are carbon and the design is quite cool...I chose them for my RC12L3 build. If you search for "xceed" on Asiatees and go to the last 3 or 4 pages of the 18 pages of results, you'll see the ones I'm talking about. They come in 3 foam tire hardnesses, as well as black & white colored wheels. They're about $13 per pair for 1/12, and I believe about $20/pair for 1/10.
