Rc10L cleanup

Hello, I picked up a dusty Rc10L on ebuy.
It came with a novak T4, Sanwa-Airtronics controller, a race pre motor, an horrible Mercedes body, the box and few miscellaneous parts.
Nice T4, I hope it's still working.
I don't think this car ran a lot: a thrust bearing is missing, and the rear axle is not aligned with the pod.
Sadly, it has probably hit a curb...
First thing to do: fix the graphite chassis.
The worn part is cut out, and a small piece of carbon is cut to fit exactly like a puzzle.
Parts glued together and sanded.
Then the finished repair, with countersunk hole.

Thanks.
All the parts have been whitened in an hydrogen peroxide bath under the sun.
Then all aluminium parts have been cleaned and slightly polished.

Thanks, it's even more impressive with the bumper mounted.
Those cars are really easy to rebuild.

Thats beautiful! I love the original 10L more than any other 10th scale pan car. I had one new when they came out and from memory had a reedy gold star motor.
Please post more photos when you can
Cheers

Nice repair and project.
The RC10L was my first 1/10 pan car as well, got it upgraded later with the reactive caster front end.
I have no original RC10L left, but a RC10LS and the old front end so could do the L if I ever want to.

I really like the simplicity of the 10L. The chassis is cleaned and rebuild, next I have to install electronics.
I will probably keep the Novak T4 if it still works, with a mild brushed motor.

Old tires have come off really easily with petrol, and original wheels are still in very good shape.
Only problem is to found fresh tires...
After a few research, I decided to use 6 front Tamiya F104 tires, with two tires glued on each rear wheels...a little expensive (30$ for 6 tires) and a little stretch (tires are 42mm id, rims are 47mm od), but I'm very happy with the result.

Thanks.
I rebuild the motor: com cutting, cleaning, bearings oiled and new Peak brushes.
Electronics cleaned and installed as described in the manual.

I cleaned the transmitter, it's not legal to use it in France (75mhz is for radio and tv reporters), but I think it's a really cool looking thing.
The body is too ugly (could have been in the POS challenge), so I bought a new 962 TBG (Andy's repro ?).

ra272,
That looks great. There is something about the simplicity of the first 10L's that always draws me in! I miss mine
Cheers
