The one you have pictured is a Schumacher SPC ("SPC Euro Champ" according to a picture I have). The one on eBay is the Schumacher 'C' Car. Kit numbers from Schumacher:
C200 'C' Car Rolling Chassis Kit
C204 "SPC Euro Champ" Rolling Chassis Kit
This information comes from the back cover page of the Cat XLS colour instruction manual.... I'm sure Terry.SC will be along shortly with more exact information....

You mentioned the beam style front end, I think you mean this one
http://classicrc.wordpress.com/1-12/schumacher/schumacher-b-car/ This is the Schumacher beam front end used at a different car.
The Schumacher 1/12 car using this beam type was called B-Car.

As others have said, you are describing a B-car.
The B-Car was a simpler version of the C-car, without the complex independent wishbone suspension. The one piece beam meant there were a lot less adjustments that could be done to the front end. You can see the B-car alongside the C-Car here.
The later version of the B-Car came without any front suspension and the chassis was drilled to fit the Associated RC12i front suspension.

This to was it. I had a wishbone setup at first. But; only for about 4-5 races. I then switched to the "B-Car". It suited my driving style much better and I tore up the tracks with this car. It was so easy to setup and adjust, if you ever had too. I could basically run a few laps, adjust the tweek and tires. The car was awesome.
BIG QUESTION???
Does anyone know where I can find one???

I have not seen a B-Car since a very long time. There is just that True Tyres Tornado car with the B-Car frontend here with me atm.
