Stock RC10 shock tower material?

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... I'm working on a custom RC10 project right now and need to find some flat sheets of the same material that the stock shock towers are made of. Looks like fiberglass? Anyway needs to be white or off whit like the original shock towers and same thickness. Any help or some links to some would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :

Neal.

HI!... I've been looking around trying to find sheets of this material. Not sure but this looks close.

Just can't find it in white currently.

That's the natural color of G10 fiberglass...I don't think you can it in white.

I don't know for sure if the RC10 towers were even G10 or some other grade of fiberglass.

I will post up pics later showing the McMaster Carr g10 against a stock shock tower and you can see if it's close enough for you. It doesn't show the weave like associated

Here are some towers I cut

These guys have a decent color match, at least a couple sheets I ordered looked good.

HI!... gomachv :

Do you remember what thickness you went with. I just measured the stock shock tower and it's a 1/8" thick so I figure the .125 should do. Also what did you use to cut it out?

I use a combination of 1/8 and 3/32 ( .125 and .093)

Here is my pin router link, this is how I cut all of my material
